        World-renowned fashion designer Karl Lagerfeld died in Paris on Tuesday morning, according to a statement from his eponymous brand. "The House of KARL LAGERFELD shares, with deep emotion and sadness, the passing of its creative director, Karl Lagerfeld, on February 19, 2019, in Paris,  France ," reads the statement,  posted on Lagerfeld's official Instagram account . "He was one of the most influential and celebrated designers of the 21st century and an iconic, universal symbol of style. Driven by a phenomenal sense of creativity, Karl was passionate, powerful and intensely curious.        The Presidency has reiterated President Muhammadu Buhari's comment that anyone who dares to snatch ballot boxes during next weekend's elections will be doing this for the last time, saying it should be seen as a strong message against the long history of savagery associated with elections in the country. Speaking to State House Correspondents on Monday, presidential spokesperson, Garba Shehu, recalled some past elections in parts of Nigeria, during which innocent voters lost their lives while ballot boxes were being snatched by armed thugs. "Snatching ballot boxes often entails putting the lives of innocent Nigerians at risk. About 10 years ago, evidence was brought before an election tribunal from one of the states in North Central of the gruesome killing of 26 prospective voters by ballot box snatchers.       The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Ibadan Zonal Office has arrested one Kola Al-Amin, a former staff of the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board, JAMB over alleged forgery and obtaining money by false pretences. His arrest followed a petition alleging that sometime in November, 2010, Kola who operates under the name of “Cool Technologies Consult Limited” with office located at No.4/900, Taiwo House, Second Floor, Y emetu Total Garden, Ibadan, Oyo State approached the complainant, a microfinance bank (name withheld) with a Local Purchasing Order (LPO) for the supply of internet hardware which he claimed was from JAMB headquarters, Abuja. He requested the microfinance bank to advance him a loan of 10,000,000.00 (Ten Million Naira) only to finance the LPO. The petitioner further alleged that Kola was granted the loan with the agreement that the proceed of the LPO from JAMB will be paid directly into his account with the microfinance bank but that at matur

      The attention of the Nigerian Army(NA) has been drawn to an allegation of involvement of one of its officers in politics in Rivers State which was found to be untrue. The Nigerian Army would have ordinarily ignored such baseless insinuations but for the unsuspecting members of the public who may be misled to believe the unsubstantiated allegations of political involvement of a military officer. The Army has made it sufficiently and consistently clear that none of its personnel will be involved in political campaigns, escort of VIPs for political missions and above all, aiding or supporting any political party as has been circulated in official circulars and statements.        Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom commiserates with the All Progressives Congress, APC in the state over the murder of the party's Chairman in Ohimini Local Government Area, Mr Boniface Okloho. Governor Ortom strongly condemns the killing and urges security agencies to ensure that those responsible are apprehended for prosecution. He describes the act as barbaric, anti-democratic and capable of derailing the electoral process in the area. The Governor says violence in any form has no place in democracy, and stresses that those who take the lives of others on account of politics are the real enemies of the State.        The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC Gombe Zonal Office has secured the convictions of Hassan Kasim, Aminu Inuwa, Mohammed Adamu, Peter Pam and Shehuwa Baba in Gombe State High Court, before Justice Abubakar Jauro. The five were convicted on offences bordering on forgery, possession of counterfeit seals, cheating and employment scam. The convicts committed the offences differently in the state, and all pleaded guilty to their different crimes. The first convict, Hassan, sometime in July 2016 dishonestly obtained money from one Aishatu Muhammed for the purpose of procuring a forge certificate which is contrary to Section 320 and punishable under Section 322 of the Penal Code. Inuwa was arraigned on a two-count charge bordering on forgery and and possession of seal to commit forgery. Adamu on his part, sometime in July, 2016 had in his possession, a forged result bearing his name dated August 26, 2010, purported to have been issued by the University of Maidugu
