EFCC TASKFORCE ARRESTS 34 SUSPECTED CURRENCY SPECULATORS IN ABUJA. (PHOTOS). #PRESS RELEASE.

 EFCC Taskforce Arrests 34 Suspected Currency Speculators in Abuja Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, attached to the Taskforce on Currency mutilation, Dollarization of the Economy and Forex Malpractice, have arrested 34 suspected currency speculators  for alleged foreign exchange fraud. They were arrested on Friday, April 26, 2024 in a sting operation following credible intelligence about illegal sales of dollars at the Wuse Zone 4 area of the Federal Capital Territory Abuja.   The suspects are :Usman Mohammed, Abdullahi Nasir, Abubakar Saleh, Mohammed Kabir Ibrahim, Abubakar Ghadafi, Muktar Usman, Umar Abubakar Abba, Yakubu Sani, Aminu Abubakar, Muhammed Suleman Abara, Yusuf Tahir, Usman Lawal, Usman Lawal, Usman Umar, Amina Garba Rola, Muhammed Aliyu, Murtala Haruna, Sani Mohammed, Umar Farouk, Muhammed Sagiuru, Aminu Salisu, Lawal Bello, Munzali Hashim, Jamilu Suleiman, Mustapha Umar, Mubarak Tanimu, Adamu Garba, Mohammed Usman, Bello Musa, Saleh Moha

      The suspended acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Ibrahim Magu, has been released from police custody after 10 days in detention. Magu was arrested on July 6, 2020 amid allegations of corruption and brought before the Justice Ayo Salami-led Presidential panel. The suspended EFCC boss was accused of being unable to account for the interest accrued to recovered funds of about N550bn. He was also accused of insubordination and purchase of property in Dubai, the United Arab Emirates.More details later.

GUNMEN KILLED LABARAN MAKU'S NEPHEW, ABDUCT WIFE.{PHOTOS}.

DAILY NIGERIAN gathered that the gunmen stormed his residence in Gudi town of Akwanga Local Government of Nasarawa State. The gunmen took away Mr Usman who is an immigration officer along with his wife. Speaking to The Nation, father of the victim, retired ASP Usman Salisu, said the gunmen scaled the fence to gain access before firing three shots at the Late Sa’adatu through her window. “I was on the dining table eating when I heard the first gunshot, second shot then third, as a police officer, I concluded these are robbers. LAGOS DOCTORS SUSPEND STRIKE.{PHOTO}.

     Medical doctors in Lagos State have agreed to suspend a three- day warning strike which they began on Monday. The doctors also agreed to resume work at their respective duty posts in various hospitals in the state effective Thursday. This was contained in a statement signed on Wednesday by the Chairman, Medical Guild Representative Council, Dr Oluwajimi Sodipo. Sodipo said the doctors agreed to call off the strike after it held a virtual meeting with stakeholders including the state governor , Babajide Sanwo - Olu ; Oba of Lagos , HRM Oba Rilwan Akinolu, amongst others. He said the doctors observed “ positive change in attitude” amongst relevant government agencies . Buba of Federal High Court, sitting in Ikoyi, Lagos on Wednesday, July 15, 2020 convicted and sentenced Captain Ezekiel Bala Agaba, a former executive director, Maritime Safety and Shipping Development, in the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency, NIMASA to seven years jail term for N1.7billion fraud. The convict was prosecuted on seven-count amended charges, bordering on criminal breach of trust and  money laundering by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Lagos Zonal Office, following a 2015 intelligence report of fraud in NIMASA and subsequent investigations that unearthed several suspicious transactions to the tune of N1,699,808,666.60, traced to him.
