                A lot of people might have been watching a lot of Roman ancient movies,especially the war movies,and the Roman soldiers in those movies must have demonstrated these formation in the picture above to fight their wars,and surprisingly,they have won many wars using these war formation.The formation is called the ''Tortoise formation {Testudo} a.k.a the Ancient Roman Tank.The Tortoise formation is the ancient forerunner of the modern tank.The testudo or tortoise formation was a formation used commonly by the Roman Legions during battles,particularly sieges.Testudo is the Latin word for tortoise .The Greek term for this formation is ''Chelone'' and during the Byzantine era,it seems to have evolved to what military manuals of the era call ''Foulkon''.The men would align their shields to form a packed formation covered with shields on the front and top.The first row of men possibly excluding the men on the flanks,would hold their shi...

                     According to sources,Chad has executed 10 members of Nigerian Islamist militant group Boko Haram by firing squad,a day after they were sentenced on terrorism charges.A security source said ''They were shot this morning at the Massaguel firing range,northeast of the capital of N'Djamena''.Among the executed was Mahamat Moustapha,a 30 year old Cameroonian who was accused of masterminding a series of attacks on N'Djamena.More than 40 people were killed in those attacks in June and July,prompting Chadian President Idriss Deby to introduce a series of tough new anti terror laws.

                        Today saturday,the Inspector General of Police Solomon Arase said about 40,000 policemen between the rank of Constable and Inspector would be promoted in the next two months.He disclosed this during his private visit to Lagos,and noted that the rank and file were the offices doing the major jos,including arrests,investigations and other special duties.He noted that these officers were closer to the people than senior officers,stressing that due attention should be given to them by mitigating their burdens.The I-G said as part of effort to encourage these officers,the police authorities had embark on housing projects across the six geo-political zones to build two bedroom flats valued at about N4 million each in collaboration with mortgage institutions.''There have been a backlog of promotions between the constable and inspector cadre,involving about 36,000 of them.Two groups are already undergoi...

                    Today saturday in Jigawa state,the Nigerian Security Civil Defence Corps {NSCDC,said they arrested a 25 year old man for allegedly stealing a ram.Commandant of {NSCDC} in Jigawa state Mr Muhammad Gidado,told NAN in Dutse,that the suspect was arresyed in Yalwawa Quuarters by members of the community.According to the commandant,the ram belonged to one Malam Alasan Dogo and that the suspect was nabbed red handed while dragging the ram away.He said further that ''The suspect has confessed to committing the offence and will soon be charged to court''.

                    Today saturday morning in Kaduna,an Air Force training flight crashed into Nigerian Defence Academy {NDA} Officers Quarters,leaving seven people dead.Those on board the flight which crashed at about 6.47 am included three passengers as well as the pilot,co-pilot and two engineers.According to sources,the flight which was on his way to Abuja,crashed about ten minutes after take off.
