EFCC TASKFORCE ARRESTS 34 SUSPECTED CURRENCY SPECULATORS IN ABUJA. (PHOTOS). #PRESS RELEASE.

 EFCC Taskforce Arrests 34 Suspected Currency Speculators in Abuja Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, attached to the Taskforce on Currency mutilation, Dollarization of the Economy and Forex Malpractice, have arrested 34 suspected currency speculators  for alleged foreign exchange fraud. They were arrested on Friday, April 26, 2024 in a sting operation following credible intelligence about illegal sales of dollars at the Wuse Zone 4 area of the Federal Capital Territory Abuja.   The suspects are :Usman Mohammed, Abdullahi Nasir, Abubakar Saleh, Mohammed Kabir Ibrahim, Abubakar Ghadafi, Muktar Usman, Umar Abubakar Abba, Yakubu Sani, Aminu Abubakar, Muhammed Suleman Abara, Yusuf Tahir, Usman Lawal, Usman Lawal, Usman Umar, Amina Garba Rola, Muhammed Aliyu, Murtala Haruna, Sani Mohammed, Umar Farouk, Muhammed Sagiuru, Aminu Salisu, Lawal Bello, Munzali Hashim, Jamilu Suleiman, Mustapha Umar, Mubarak Tanimu, Adamu Garba, Mohammed Usman, Bello Musa, Saleh Moha

        Today The Prince of Wales hosted a meeting in London to discuss how organisations can work to improve coral reef health. The meeting was led by The Prince’s International Sustainability Unit, and explored how different sectors can work towards helping coral reefs recover from threats such as pollution and climate change.Prince Harry was also in attendance to hear his father's speech and learn more about the work being done to protect coral reefs.More photos below.

COURT JAILS EX-BANKER, ONE OTHER 3YEARS FOR FRAUD TODAY.{PHOTO}

        Justice Ibrahim Buba of the Federal High Court, sitting in Asaba, Delta State, has convicted and sentenced a former Relationship Manager with the United Bank for Africa, UBA, Victor Onodavwerho, to one year imprisonment. The convict was arraigned on a four-count charge bordering on money laundering. Justice Buba found him guilty of all the charges and sentenced him to one year imprisonment on each of the four counts. The sent ence is to run concurrently. Onodavwerho ran into troubles when he forged the letter-heads of Edo State Universal Basic Education Board and converted a sum of N20,000,000( Twenty Million Naira only) belonging to the Board to build a hotel in his name. His bank petitioned the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC and he was arrested and prosecuted.       The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on February 14, 2018 arraigned Nuraini Adamu, son of former Governor of Nasarawa State, Abdullahi Adamu and one Felix Onyeabo Ojiako before Justice Farouq Lawal of the Kano State High Court on a 4-count charge of conspiracy, forgery and obtaining money by false pretence. Adamu and Ojiako’ arraignment followed a petition by one Atta Esin alleging that the defe ndants conspired and used his company name, Biolocks Technologies Limited, to execute contract without his knowledge. He further alleged that the contract resulted in the accumulation of withholding tax to the tune of N1,311,519.99 (One Million, Three Hundred and Eleven Thousand, Five Hundred and Nineteen Naira, Ninety Nine Kobo).The contract according to the petitioner was worth N26,230,399.60 (Twenty Six Million, Two Hundred Thirty Thousand, Three Hundred and Ninety Nine Naira, Sixty Kobo), but investigation into the alleged fraud revealed that the actual contract sum w

        Lagos State Governor, Mr Akinwunmi Ambode on Wednesday urged residents of the State to come out and register for the National Identity Card scheme being administered by the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC), saying compliance would enhance proper planning and facilitate national development.       Governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose has visited Ipao Ekiti, the community where herdsmen allegedly massacred a farmer, Tunde Olayemi, 32, on Sunday in Ikole Local Government Area of the state. Hundreds of the people of the community trooped out to welcome the governor. They displayed placards to show their displeasure at the sad development. The governor said the law prohibiting open grazing of cattle will be amended to punish anybody who willfully kills any cow or cause malicious damage to property. He also said the state government will soon organise a summit of stakeholders to find a lasting solution to incessant clashes between farmers and cattle rearers in the state, especially in Ikole Local Government Area.
