 Anambra State Govt. Rescues 13 Children From Traffickers, Arrests Suspects By OCHA Brigade Media  13 children have been rescued from suspected child traffickers in Otolo Nnewi by a joint taskforce of Operation Clean And Healthy Anambra, OCHA Brigade and Anambra State Ministry of Women Affairs. The joint taskforce also confiscated fake documents that aided the trafficking.  The children were found malnourished and have been denied education.  Report say that the trafficker adopts and sold children to people from different parts of the country.   Commercial sex workers in Onitsha, Anambra State, under the aegis of Self-Made Women of Substance, have threatened to embark on an indefinite strike over the recent hike in the pump price of petrol and increase in electricity tariff. One of their leaders, Uto Nwanyi, who claimed to be the patron, said that the recent hikes came when they are yet to recover from the effects of coronavirus. “The issue of Coronavirus started in March this year and lasted for four months. Throughout the period, our members went out of business; no patronage of any kind; none of our members was able to meet up with personal needs,” Uto Nwanyi lamented. “When we were yet to recover from the Coronavirus, the Federal Government came up with their pump price increment. Electricity companies also came up with tariff hike. This led to an increase in house rent, transportation and general cost of living.   It was an emotional moment for Mrs Ugochinyere Ezeh, as tears of joy rolled down her cheeks, when she got a letter to serve in the Transition Committee of Nnewi North Local Government as one of the Councillors. Mrs Ugochinyere who could not hold back her Joy, rolled on the floor, as she couldn’t imagine what could have influenced her appointment despite being from what some will describe as the lower class and also not an indigene of Nnewi. Mrs Ugochinyere has been living in Nnewi for the past Twenty (20) years, she relocated to Nnewi with her children and husband who is a commercial motorcyclist, in search for greener pastures. Boy hawking in Aba falls into gutter and drowns after heavy rainfall. A boy hawking in Aba reportedly fell into a gutter after a heavy rainfall and drowned. The boy's body was reportedly found in a gutter in Amaogbonna, Aba, Abia state. The boy's death is blamed on the blocked drainages in Aba that resulted in flooding after a heavy rainfall in the state.More Photos below.

  President Muhammadu Buhari has renewed the appointments of Chief Executive Officers of agencies under the Ministry of Petroleum Resources. Following recommendations to the President by Chief Timipre Sylva, Minister of State Petroleum Resources, Dr Bello Aliyu Gusau gets another nod as the Executive Secretary of Petroleum Technology Development Fund (PTDF); Ahmed Bobboi as Executive Secretary/Chief Executive Officer of Petroleum Equalization Fund (PEF), while Engineer Simbi Wabote is reappointed Executive Secretary, Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB). Dr Gusau is credited to have run the PTDF successfully in the past four years, keeping faith with the Seven Strategic Priorities he had introduced in January 2017.
