 AU urges de-escalation as fighting displaces over 180,000 in South Sudan’s Jonglei state The Chairperson of the African Union Commission called for immediate de-escalation and strict adherence to South Sudan’s 2018 peace agreement, as renewed fighting in Jonglei State displaced more than 180,000 people and raised fears of further civilian harm. In a statement, African Union Commission Chairperson Mahmoud Ali Youssouf said he was deeply concerned by the deteriorating security situation in parts of the country, particularly Jonglei, where escalating violence and inflammatory rhetoric have put civilians—including women and children—at heightened risk. South Sudanese authorities estimate the number of displaced in Jonglei at more than 180,000, the United Nations humanitarian agency OCHA said last week. JOAN RIVER'S DAUGHTER,MELISSA,TO HOST A FASHION POLICE TRIBUTE SHOW,FRIDAY ON E!

                      Tomorrow friday on E!,is called Joan Rivers day,with back to back episodes of Fashion Police and a 90 minutes special of the show featuring Melissa Rivers and co-host Guiliana Rancic,Kelly Osbourne and George Kotsiopoulos.The marathon viewing will include Joan's birthday episode and also the last show she filmed.Joan Rivers passed away on the 4th of September at the age of 81 after slipping into a coma a week earlier following a throat procedure at a Manhattan clinic.Melissa Rivers had also posted a thank you message to fans for the depth of love expressed in their tributes.More photos below.

           According to sources,a female pilgrim,Basirat Olatunji who hails from Eti Osa area of Lagos,slept and did not wakeup in Medina,Saudi Arabia while performing the ongoing Hajj.Her death has thrown the Lagos state pilgrims in the holy land into mourning.A top government source claimed the government is aware of the death of Olatunji in Medina.At least 3,082 pilgrims from Lagos state have successfully arrived in medina which is their fist port of call.According to the spokesman of the State Muslim Pilgrims welfare Board,Durojaiye Luqmon said the pilgrims arrived safely,they will stay at least one day in Medina before proceeding to Mecca tomorrow friday,September 19,2014.

               Today thursday,the Democratic Republic of Congo's government accused Catholic Bishops of pandering to foreign influence after they issued an open letter opposing a possible constitutional revision to let President Joseph Kabila seek a third term.The letter was issued on sunday by the National Episcopal Conference of Congo during a visit to the Vatican.The letter states the current rules limiting leaders to two terms underpinned the country's stability by ensuring a balance of power.The opposition,which includes some former rebels,has suggested that an attempt to hold on to power by the president would lead to protests.President Kabila has not announced any plans to stand again,but a number of his supporters have made public appeals for him to change the constitution before his second term expires in 2016.Spokesman for the Congolese Government Lambert Mende said ''To judge by the place chosen by the Congolese Bishops to sign and rele...
