 EFCC Taskforce Arrests 34 Suspected Currency Speculators in Abuja Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, attached to the Taskforce on Currency mutilation, Dollarization of the Economy and Forex Malpractice, have arrested 34 suspected currency speculators  for alleged foreign exchange fraud. They were arrested on Friday, April 26, 2024 in a sting operation following credible intelligence about illegal sales of dollars at the Wuse Zone 4 area of the Federal Capital Territory Abuja.   The suspects are :Usman Mohammed, Abdullahi Nasir, Abubakar Saleh, Mohammed Kabir Ibrahim, Abubakar Ghadafi, Muktar Usman, Umar Abubakar Abba, Yakubu Sani, Aminu Abubakar, Muhammed Suleman Abara, Yusuf Tahir, Usman Lawal, Usman Lawal, Usman Umar, Amina Garba Rola, Muhammed Aliyu, Murtala Haruna, Sani Mohammed, Umar Farouk, Muhammed Sagiuru, Aminu Salisu, Lawal Bello, Munzali Hashim, Jamilu Suleiman, Mustapha Umar, Mubarak Tanimu, Adamu Garba, Mohammed Usman, Bello Musa, Saleh Moha

                Today friday morning {American time}73 year old Rene Angeli passed away at his home in Las Vagas after a long and courageous battle against cancer.Dion's representative said in a statement that ''The family requests that their privacy be respected at the moment''.Angelil guided eline Dion's career as her manager and mentor.He leaves behind their three children Rene Charles 14 and 5 year old twins Nelso and Eddy and his adult children from a previous relationship,Anne Marie,Patrick and Jean Pierre.May his soul rest in peace Amen.More photos below.                                                                   

CBN GOVERNOR WAS SUMMONED TODAY BY THE SENATE,AS NAIRA IS BEING EXCHANGED FOR N305 TO $1,TODAY.

               Today thursday,the Nigerian Senate summoned the Central Bank of Nigeria {CBN} Gover,Mr Godwin Emefiele over the continuous depreciation of naira.The upper chamber said that Emefiele should appear before it by 11:00 am,on teuesday January 19,2016 to explain the continuous weakening of the Naira against the Dollar.The invitation followed a Point of Order raised by the Senate Leader,Senator Mohammed Ali Ndume,over the matter.Senate President,Abubakar Bukola Saraki,asked Senator Ndume to convey Senate's resolution inviting him to the CBN governor.Ndume said it was expedient for the Senate to invite the CBnN governor to brief it on the free fall of the naira.''As of toda,naira is exchanged for N305 to one dollar.In view of this worrisome situation an the fact that we all know that this country depends so much on imported materials and even food,there is a need for this Senate to as a matter of urgency call,invite or summon the governor of CBN to explain this situa

HARRY POTTER MOVIE STAR ALAN RICKMAN,DIED TODAY AT THE AGE OF 69.

              Harry Potter film star Alan Rickman died today thursday morning of cancer at the age of 69.The British actor is also well known for his roles in Robin Hood and Die Hard.Alan Rickman revealed last year that he had secretly married his partner Rima Horton in New York in 2012,35 years after they began their relationship.A family statement said ''The actor and director Alan Rickman has died from cancer at the age of 69.He was surrounded by family and friends''.His brother 71 year old David said ''He passed away this morning.He was in a hospital at the time''.It is not yet known what type of cancer the London born star suffered from,or how long he was secretly battling the illness.Rickman,who as born into a working class family in Hammersmith,began his acting career on the stage before graduating to Hollywood films.May his soul rest in peace AMEN.More photos below.                                                                                  

A FIRE OUTBREAK IN AN ALGERIAN RESORT,LEFT 7 PEOPLE DEAD YESTERDAY.

               Yesterday wednesday seven people died when a deliberately lit fire tore through a tourism complex at a beach resort on the outskirts of the Algerian capital.The blaze erupted around 02:30 {01:30 GMT}. at a bungalow in the Azur complex in zeralda.A police official later told state television that the fire was of criminal origin,and that three suspects were identified and being sought.All of the seven people killed were Algerians,and were between 25 and 35 years old,including two women.They all died of asphyxiation.one more photo below.                                                                 

TODAY MARKS THE OFFICIAL END OF THE EBOLA EPIDEMIC IN WEST AFRICA.

                  Today marks the official end of the Ebola epidemic in West Africa.Liberia has reached 42 days with no new cases,and has just moments ago been officially declared Ebola free.The World Health Organisation and organisations like MSF have expressed their elation ,but warned that it's key to learn from the experiences of the Ebola outtbreak and above all,remain vigilant in previously affected countries.Sierra Leone and Guinea,the two other West African nations affected by the epidemic,were African nations affected by the epidemic,were declared free of the disease late last year.Two previous attempts to declare Liberia free of the virus ended when infections re-emerged.Ebola has killed more than 11,000 people since December 2013.One more photo below.              

FIFA BANS 2 SPANISH CLUBS TODAY,''REAL MADRID & ATLETICA DE MADRID''.

                  Today thursday,FIFA banned  two Spanish clubs,Atletica de Madrid and Real Madrid for international transfer of minors and signing players in the next two transfer window,meaning for breaching rules relating to signing players under the age of 18.FIFA said today thursday that its Disciplinary Committee has sanctioned the two Spanish clubs.Though the Spanish clubs can still sign players in the current tranfer window,they will be banned from making additions to their squads until after the 2016-17 season.''Real and Atletico were found to have violated several provisions concerning the international transfer and first registration of minor players as well as other relevant provisions with regard to the registration and participation of certain players in competitions.Both clubs are to serve a transfer ban that prevents them from registering any players at national and international level for the next two complete and consecutive registration periods for braching a
