 EFCC Taskforce Arrests 34 Suspected Currency Speculators in Abuja Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, attached to the Taskforce on Currency mutilation, Dollarization of the Economy and Forex Malpractice, have arrested 34 suspected currency speculators  for alleged foreign exchange fraud. 475 traffickers jailed for drug offences No fewer than 475 persons have been convicted and sentenced to various jail terms between September and November 2021 following charges filed against them by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, at Federal High Courts across the country. The figure represents a portion of the over 1,000 traffickers that were jailed between January and November for drug offences. In September, a total of 73 persons were convicted with Jigawa state recording the highest figure of 15 convicts, followed by Adamawa -14 and FCT-11. Jigawa state also topped the chart of the 150 convictions recorded by the Agency in October with 14 convicts, followed by Niger-13; Katsina-12; Taraba-11 and Lagos- 11. Adamawa and Abia states had the highest conviction figure in November with 23 each out of a total of 252 convictions recorded by the anti-narcotic agency in the past month, while FCT had 21 and Plateau- 14. BANDITS LOCK DOWN KADUNA-ZARIA ROAD,KIDNAP TRAVELLERS,MANY FEARED DEAD.{PHOTO}

Many travellers were feared killed and scores kidnapped as terrorists and bandits opened fire on travellers along the busy Kaduna-Zaria Road in Kaduna State on Monday evening. According to Daily Nigerian, the attack occurred at Kofar Gayan on the outskirt of Zaria. It was learnt that the gunmen struck around 8pm, shooting sporadically at vehicles in order to immobilise them and abduct the passengers. Witnesses noted that the attackers had taken many travellers into the bush before the arrival of security agents. “They kidnapped many travellers, some fled, while others who were shot at. It will be difficult to determine the number of those killed or abducted,” said a witness. Another witness said one Sani Dogara was shot dead by the terrorists.
