 EFCC Taskforce Arrests 34 Suspected Currency Speculators in Abuja Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, attached to the Taskforce on Currency mutilation, Dollarization of the Economy and Forex Malpractice, have arrested 34 suspected currency speculators  for alleged foreign exchange fraud. They were arrested on Friday, April 26, 2024 in a sting operation following credible intelligence about illegal sales of dollars at the Wuse Zone 4 area of the Federal Capital Territory Abuja.   The suspects are :Usman Mohammed, Abdullahi Nasir, Abubakar Saleh, Mohammed Kabir Ibrahim, Abubakar Ghadafi, Muktar Usman, Umar Abubakar Abba, Yakubu Sani, Aminu Abubakar, Muhammed Suleman Abara, Yusuf Tahir, Usman Lawal, Usman Lawal, Usman Umar, Amina Garba Rola, Muhammed Aliyu, Murtala Haruna, Sani Mohammed, Umar Farouk, Muhammed Sagiuru, Aminu Salisu, Lawal Bello, Munzali Hashim, Jamilu Suleiman, Mustapha Umar, Mubarak Tanimu, Adamu Garba, Mohammed Usman, Bello Musa, Saleh Moha

Security Operatives Foil Kidnap Attempt, Rescue 76 Victims In Kaduna The Police Command in Kaduna State, says prompt police and military response has foiled an attempt to kidnap 76 victims along Funtua-Zaria Road. The command spokesman, DSP Muhammad Jalige said in a statement issued on Monday in Kaduna that the incident occurred at about 11 pm on Friday. He said that the kidnap attempt was made by a large number of bandits wielding sophisticated weapons, who blocked a section of Funtua-Zaria Road at Gulbala, Giwa Local Government Area. Atiku Rejected Jonathan's Plea In 2015, Refused To Support Him - Wike Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State on Tuesday said then President Goodluck Jonathan pleaded with former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar to support his re-election bid in 2015 but the Adamawa-born politician rejected the entreaties of the former Bayelsa governor. Doubts over use of Second Niger Bridge for yuletide Despite the completion of the Second Niger Bridge connecting Onitsha, Anambra State in the Southeast and Asaba, Delta State in the South-South, there are indications that travellers and commuters would not be able to use the bridge before December as the access road at the Asaba end is yet to be constructed. CP condemns attempted murder on Ruth Tamuno in Rivers The Commissioner of Police, Rivers State Command, CP Okon O. Effiong has condemned  in its entirety, the mob action on one Ruth Tamuno on 14/11/2022, whereby some group of boys numbering about six, led by one Samuel Matthew beat her up and inserted substance on her private part, for allegedly stealing of an Iphone. CP Okon described the act as barbaric and inhumane.  A statement by the spokesperson of the command, SP GRACE IRINGE-KOKO said  CP has ordered the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), to conduct a discreet investigation on one Samuel Matthew and Emmanuel Iweruma who were arrested in connection with the case, as efforts are on to arrest other fleeing suspects. A 72 YEAR OLD MAN KILLS 5 PEOPLE BEFORE TAKING HIS OWN LIFE IN PEMBA DISTRICT. A 72 year old man of Majata village in Hamaundu Chiefdom in Pemba District has killed his enstranged wife and 4 others after he set ablaze a house they were in and shot those who came to the rescue, leaving 3 people battle for the lives following serious injuries. Jethro Makondo who is also Headman in the Chiefdom later pulled the trigger on himself adding to the number of those he killed. Preliminary investigations by Radio Chikuni News crew that rushed to the scene indicate that late Mr. Makondo was infuriated by his wife's refusal to get back to her  matrimonial home following the couple's misunderstandings which resulted in the husband tying wires to the house the wife was living in and sprayed it with petrol before setting it ablaze. Mr. Makondo is reported to have gone on rampage shooting neighbors who wanted to rescue those in the house. The incident happened around 02hrs today 22 November 202

CHONGWE MAN WOUNDS FOUR USING MACHETE  Police in Chongwe recieved four reports of unlawful wounding in which the victims identified as Olipa Nyendwa aged 24, Rabecca Ngulube aged 22, a female juvenile aged 7 and David Shimilinani a Burundian national aged 29 all of Ibex area in Chongwe District of Nkomeshya Chiefdom were hacked by David Tembo using a machete.  Our preliminary investigations indicate that the suspect, David Tembo aged 35, had a marital dispute with his wife identified as Olipa Nyendwa whom he had  ordered to accompany him to the cemetery for some money rituals.  This was in October, 2022 on unknown date. The order made the wife leave her matrimonial home and moved to her aunt's house in Lusoke village, Chief Nkomeshya.  On November 19, 2022 at around 21:00hrs, the suspect followed the wife at her aunt's place on suspicion of her having extra marital affairs.
