 EFCC Taskforce Arrests 34 Suspected Currency Speculators in Abuja Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, attached to the Taskforce on Currency mutilation, Dollarization of the Economy and Forex Malpractice, have arrested 34 suspected currency speculators  for alleged foreign exchange fraud. They were arrested on Friday, April 26, 2024 in a sting operation following credible intelligence about illegal sales of dollars at the Wuse Zone 4 area of the Federal Capital Territory Abuja.   The suspects are :Usman Mohammed, Abdullahi Nasir, Abubakar Saleh, Mohammed Kabir Ibrahim, Abubakar Ghadafi, Muktar Usman, Umar Abubakar Abba, Yakubu Sani, Aminu Abubakar, Muhammed Suleman Abara, Yusuf Tahir, Usman Lawal, Usman Lawal, Usman Umar, Amina Garba Rola, Muhammed Aliyu, Murtala Haruna, Sani Mohammed, Umar Farouk, Muhammed Sagiuru, Aminu Salisu, Lawal Bello, Munzali Hashim, Jamilu Suleiman, Mustapha Umar, Mubarak Tanimu, Adamu Garba, Mohammed Usman, Bello Musa, Saleh Moha

     Yesterday, The Duke of Sussex has visited a partially cleared minefield in Dirico, Angola; following in the footsteps of his late mother, Diana, Princess of Wales. The Duke joined The HALO Trust in their work to help clear the area to enable safe access for the local community. His Royal Highness set off a controlled explosion to destroy a landmine. The Duke learnt about the work of The Halo Trust and their goal to clear this particular area of land mines by October 2019. In 1997, Diana, Princess of Wales visited Huambo to bring global attention to the threat of landmines and the people whose lives were being destroyed. The area is now transformed. A small community, with colleges, schools and businesses occupies the once uninhabitable area. His Royal Highness has been a strong advocate for eliminating the threat posed by landmines to some of the most vulnerable people around the world and continues the work undertaken by his mother. THREE JAILED FOR IMPERSONATION IN IBADAN.{PHOTOS}.#PRESS RELEASE.

      Three persons were on Thursday, September 26, 2019 found guilty of criminal impersonation by the Federal High Court, Ibadan, and sentenced to prison terms. The trio – Augustine Ekeson, Obinna Ureahi Ifeanyi and Osho Olalekan Micheal – were convicted in cases filed against them by the Ibadan zonal office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission. Justice Patricia Ajoku, after considering the facts of an amended one-count charge against Obinna and Ifeanyi, pronounced them guilty and sentenced them to two years imprisonment each. The duo had earlier been arraigned on a three-count charge based on the allegations raised against them in a petitioned received from one Mobolade Dele Akinbuluma, a Doctoral student of the University of Ibadan. Akinbuluma alleged that the accused hacked into her email account to misrepresent themselves as staff of a Kenyan university where she was to undertake a study as part of her doctorate programme.         The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Lagos Zonal Office, has arrested 18 (Eighteen) suspected internet fraudsters in Lagos. . . The suspects are: Abass Mukhtar, Enitan Adekunle, Olakunle Araoyinbo, Korede Adetule, Christmas Gabriel, Christmas Yole, Christmas Emmanuel and Harrison Obayogbono. . . Others are: Victor Kenneth, Adewale Musibau, Oluwajuwon Shofuyi, Idris Abdulazeez, Oyeku Adeoye, Omilana Adeleke, Okeke Chucks, Peters Olamide, Abayomi Jones and Usman Olalekan. . . The suspects were arrested during a sting operation in the early hours of Friday, September 27, 2019 at three different locations in the Alagbado area of Lagos State, following intelligence reports received by the Commission from concerned members of the public about their alleged involvement in the criminal activities. . .During the raid, about five of the suspects attempted to escape arrest by taking refuge inside the ceiling of their apartments.      The Enugu Zonal office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC,in its resolve to completely wipe out the menace of internet crimes popularly known as ‘Yahoo-yahoo’ on Thursday, September 26, 2019, raided two residential buildings at Maryland, Enugu where twenty Eight (28) suspected fraudsters were arrested. The arrests followed some intelligence obtained by the Commission regarding activities of some p eople living ostentatiously without any known means of livelihood. They were alleged to have specialized in defrauding many unsuspecting victims (within and outside the country) of huge sums of money through their nefarious operations. SIX FACEBOOK HACKERS JAILED IN CALABAR.{PHOTOS}.#PRESS RELEASE.

      Justice Simon Amobeda of the Federal High Court sitting in Calabar, Cross Rivers State, on Thursday, September 26, 2019, convicted and sentenced 6 Facebook Hackers to one year imprisonment each, with an option of fine of Five hundred thousand naira (N500,000.00). The convicts are; Lawrence Nnamdi-Mba Ebesike, Prince E. Udeh, Chijioke Victor, Promise Odimba, Ugbor Ifeanyi and Prince Anthony. They were arraigned on Wednesday, September 25, 2019 on separate one-count charge, bordering on impersonation and fraud, before the same court and they all pleaded "guilty". In view of their pleas, the prosecution counsel, Usman Shehu, informed the court of the plea bargain agreements entered and executed by the prosecution and the defence. The matter was thereafter adjourned to September 26, 2019, for conviction and sentence while the convicts were remanded in Afokang prison, Calabar.
