 EFCC Taskforce Arrests 34 Suspected Currency Speculators in Abuja Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, attached to the Taskforce on Currency mutilation, Dollarization of the Economy and Forex Malpractice, have arrested 34 suspected currency speculators  for alleged foreign exchange fraud. Plateau massacre: Protesting women burn down traditional ruler’s house Irate women protesting over the fallout of the recent killings in some communities in Plateau State, on Friday, burnt down the residence of the District Head of Bokkos town, Michal Monday Adanchi. Bakkos town, in Bokkos Local Government Area, is one of the communities where the killings took place. It was gathered that the district head’s house was razed around 12:30 on Friday. The women were said to have been angered by the arrest of some members of the community for their alleged involvement in the killings. In line with the earlier notifications, the Lagos State Government has reminded the motoring public that the repairs of the Third Mainland Bridge by the Federal Ministry of Works will continue with the closure of Iyana Oworonshoki-Adeniji Adele bound for the effective repairs of the entire section of the bridge.  The closure is part of the ongoing work that started in November, 2023 focusing on fixing the ramps, and now, the remaining parts of the bridge will also be repaired. Several persons have lost their lives and many others injured after a Benue Links bus with registration number PP306 had an accident at a checkpoint before Benue Cement. A witness said the vehicle had a brake failure and rammed into the bush, leaving many people dead on the spot. He said several passengers sustained serious injuries.

South Africa probes four anti-apartheid activists’ murder South Africa’s justice ministry said Friday it will re-open an inquiry into the murder of four anti-apartheid activists which became one of the era’s most notorious crimes but remains unsolved nearly four decades on. The so-called Cradock Four were abducted and murdered while returning home to the southern town of Cradock in June 1985 after a meeting. The bodies of the four — Matthew Goniwe, Sparrow Mkonto, Fort Calata and Sicelo Mhlauli — were discovered days later, badly burnt and with multiple stab wounds. The security forces under the apartheid regime were suspected of being behind the killings. But no one has been brought to justice.

This comes days after the Ministry of Education suspended the accreditation of degrees from Benin and Togo. Education Minister, Tahir Mamman stated this during an interview on Channels Television on Wednesday. “We are going to extend the dragnet to countries like Uganda, Kenya, even Niger here where such institutions have been set up,” he added. The move followed a report detailing how a degree was acquired from a university in Benin Republic within two months by an undercover reporter Umar Audu. “I have no sympathy for people patronising the institutions. Instead, they are part of the criminal chain that should be arrested”, he stated. Microsoft to introduce Ai keyboards Microsoft has announced the biggest change to its keyboards in three decades with the introduction of an artificial intelligence (AI) key. Microsoft executive vice president, Yusuf Mehdi in a blog announcing the change said it was a “transformative” moment and compared it to the addition of the Windows key nearly 30 years ago. He added that it would “simplify” and “amplify” user experience. Medhdi explained that the key will allow users to access Copilot, Microsoft’s AI tool, on new Windows 11 PCs.
