      The Nigerian Senate, today, passed the Bill for an Act to Establish the Federal Polytechnic, Mpu in Enugu State. I sponsored the Bill to address the absence of a federal polytechnic in Enugu State, particularly Enugu West Senatorial District. So, this poly will equip our youth academically and with skills that will help them excel in life. It will open a new window of opportunities for them to realise their enormous potentials and dreams.-IKE EKWEREMADU said today.

     The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has arraigned Joel Madaki and Felix Bilishan Tagwame, before Justice A.M. Anka of the Federal High Court, Yola, Adamawa State, on four counts bordering on conspiracy, misappropriation and diversion of funds. Investigation into the $115million fraud involving Diezani Alison-Madueke, a former Minister of Petroleum Resources, was linked to them. It was further revealed that  the said funds were exchanged to an equivalent sum of N23, 299,705,000 and was used for the 2015 presidential election. Substantial amount of the funds, investigations showed, were shared to some staff of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC across the nation by Fidelity Bank on behalf of Madueke.       During the FEC Briefing, Presidential Spokesman Mr Femi Adesina disclosed that President Muhammadu Buhari will preside over a special FEC meeting on Friday, in order to look critically into the 2019 budget, and finalize works on the document, before transmitting it to the National Assembly for passage.More details later and more photos below.

        The Air Force Council (AFC) yesterday, 4 December 2018, approved the promotion of a total of 64 senior officers to the next higher ranks in the Nigerian Air Force. The affected senior officers comprise 14 Air Commodores who were promoted to the rank of Air Vice Marshal, 36 Group Captains promoted to Air Commodore and 14 Wing Commanders promoted to the rank of Group Captain. I n line with the provisions in Chapter 8 of the Harmonized Terms and Conditions of Service (HTACOS) Officers 2017 (Revised), the AFC also approved the concessional commission of 3 Air Warrant Officers (AWO) and one Master Warrant Officer (MWO) to the rank of Flight Lieutenant. Those promoted to the rank of Air Vice Marshal include Air Commodores James Gwani, Moses Onilede, Charles Umolu, Olurotimi Tuwase, Musa Muktar, Emmnuel Alade and Musibau Olatunji.       About 150 vulnerable women in Alimosho area of Lagos State have benefitted from a recent skills acquisition programme under the State Ministry of Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, WAPA, in line with the all-inclusive policy of the present administration. Dr. (Mrs.) Lola Akande, Commissioner for Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, who disclosed this at the closing ceremony of the Short-Term Skills Acquisition Training For Women living with HIV/AIDS in Alimosho, stated that over 800 women spread across various groups such as widows, retirees and people with health challenges from different areas across the State have received start-up kits after completion of short-term training in diverse vocations.
