 EFCC Taskforce Arrests 34 Suspected Currency Speculators in Abuja Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, attached to the Taskforce on Currency mutilation, Dollarization of the Economy and Forex Malpractice, have arrested 34 suspected currency speculators  for alleged foreign exchange fraud.        In line with the Buhari administration’s New Vision to develop the Niger Delta region, Maritime University, Okerenkoko, Delta State, has been granted approval by the National Universities Commission (NUC) to commence undergraduate degree programmes effective from the 2017/2018 academic session. The NUC approved that academic activities commence in three faculties namely; Transport, Engineering and Environmental Management. The Faculty of Transport has four departments, namely: Nautical Science, Transport Logistics Management, Marine Economics and Finance, and Port Management.       Fulani herders in Ekiti and South West have taken a traditional oath binding on them to assure the host communities in Ekiti, and by extension, the South West Nigeria, that they would no longer behave unruly, kill or allow their cows to stray into farms. ORTOM URGES ARMY TO JUSTIFY CONFIDENCE OF BENUE PEOPLE.{PHOTOS}.

POLICE ARREST MASTERMIND OF BENUE KILLINGS.{PHOTO}.

       Following strict orders by the Inspector General of Police , Ibrahim Idris to his Intelligence Response Team ( IRT) and other operational apparatus of the police , the mastermind of the Fulani herdsmen responsible for the recent attacks in Benue State , was arrested by the police . The Deputy Inspector General of Police in charge of Operations, DIG Joshak Habillah, who made this disclosure on behalf of the IGP said the mastermind was arrested after deploying the most advanced technology and trailing him for more than three weeks . The suspect , who was identified as 40 -year- old Alhaji Laggi , was arrested by operatives of the Inspector General of Police Intelligence Response Team ( IRT ) at the Tunga Forrest in Nasarawa State . LAGOS ARRESTS PRIVATE SECTOR PARTICIPANT OPERATORS FOR DUMPING WASTE ON MAIN STREETS IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT.{PHOTO}.

        The Lagos State Government has arrested four officials of a Private Sector Participant (PSP) operator in waste management, Ayomide Olayinka Ventures, for dumping waste on the street along the Central Business District (CBD) of Lagos Island in the middle of the night.     The suspects were arrested by security operatives in the early hours of Tuesday  while using their compactor with registration number FST 908 XG to dump refuse on the street.     They included driver of the compactor, Oloruntele Adekunle and three others. The company was said to have its office at No 1A, Kudirat Abiola Way, Old Oregun Road, Ikeja.     The latest arrest brought the number of PSP operators arrested for similar offence in the last one week to five, while hundreds of cart pushers and wheel barrow operators had equally been arrested for dumping waste in public places and canals in various parts of the State.      The State’s Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr Kehinde Bamigbetan,

EFCC CHARGES CORP MEMBERS TO BECOME ADVOCATE AGAINST CORRUPTION.{PHOTOS}.

       The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC on February 20 2018, charged members of National Youth Service Corp, NYSC/EFCC CD group on anti corruption in Benin City to be advocate against corruption in their area of primary assignment. This charge was made by Mailafia Yakubu, Head of the Benin Zonal Office when the corp members paid a courtesy visit to the Commission's office in Benin. He told the corp members that corruption was Nigeria's biggest problem and that all hands must be on deck to tame the rampaging monster as the EFCC alone cannot exterminate corruption from Nigeria. "Corruption is the reason for most of our problems as a country. We need to collectively fight against it. It is the reason for high unemployment and lack of development",he said.       The Seme Command of the Nigerian Customs Service generated the sum of Five Hundred and Forty-Six Million, Eight Hundred and Thirty-Seven Thousand, One Hundred and Twenty-Four Naira, Sixty-Four Kobo (546,837,124.64) as revenue in January being the first month of 2018. The revenue generated represented about 81 percent of the revenue target actualized. The Command made a total of 64 seizures with a Duty Paid V alue (DPV) of Eighteen million, Three Hundred and Thirty-five Thousand, Four Hundred and Ninety-Five Naira (N18, 335, 495.00) for the period under review.Commenting on the revenue generated, the Customs Area Controller Mohammed Aliyu, A disclosed that the Command have started on a good note.
