 STATE HOUSE PRESS RELEASE  PRESIDENT TINUBU APPOINTS CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICERS OF TWO AGENCIES  President Bola Tinubu has approved the appointment of Dr. Innocent Bariate Barikor as the Director-General of the National Environmental Standards and Regulation Enforcement Agency (NESREA). The President has also approved the appointment of Prince Ebitimi Amgbare as the Managing Director/CEO of the Niger Delta River Basin Development Authority (NDRBDA). Dr. Barikor is an academic and politician. He was a member of the Rivers State House of Assembly from 2011 to 2015, while Prince Amgbare is a retired naval officer and former commissioner in Bayelsa State. The President expects that the new heads of these important agencies will discharge their duties with utmost fidelity to the nation and unfailing adherence to the highest standards of professionalism, accountability, and excellent service to the people of Nigeria. A wedding has reportedly been placed on hold after family members of the groom insisted their son won’t get married to his fiancée who was impregnated by another man.  Twitter user, @HRH_Onyx who shared the story, revealed that the man wants to go on with the wedding, but his family are kicking against it. She also revealed that the groom’s mother has been telling all and sundry.  She tweeted;  “Wedding we were supposed to go for has been put on hold because the lady is one month pregnant and the pregnancy isn’t from the man. Because man has been on tour. Man said he wants to go ahead. Family has said no. Momo, I swear I don’t know, everyone is speculating. His mum is telling all and sundry. For me, if he wanted to be Joseph and she his Mary, he shouldn’t have told his mum”

Top French chef quits luxury hotel job after 'troubling' hazing incident A French star chef has abruptly quit his luxury hotel job after a hazing in which a kitchen hand was reportedly tied up naked and humiliated, the hotel chain said Thursday.  Colorado mom on the run after killing 2 of her children and injuring a 3rd. 35-year-old Kimberlee Singler is facing charges of murder, attempted murder and child abuse. These charges stem from a 911 call placed on December 19th to reporting a burglary. Once on scene, Colorado Springs PD discovered Kimberlee and her 11 year-old daughter, both of whom had sustained injuries.  Upon further inspection Kimberlee's 2 other children were found deceased inside of the home. Kimberlee and her 11-year-old were treated at the scene for unspecified injuries before being transported to local hospitals.  After investigating the burglary claim was determined to be unfounded and the homicide unit was called in. An arrest warrant has been issued for Kimberlee Singler, however, she was last seen on December 23rd. Her whereabouts are unknown although detectives believe she is no longer in Colorado. Falana writes Lagos CP over ‘death threats’ against Mohbad’s wife, son Human rights lawyer, Femi Falana, has petitioned the Lagos State Police Command following alleged death threats against the late singer Mohbad’s wife and son. Mohbad, a former signee of the Marlian Record label, died on September 12, 2023 in a controversial manner at age 27. He was buried the following day. Following the circumstances surrounding the singer’s death, thousands of Nigerians have demanded justice for Mohbad in nationwide protests. On September 21, Mohbad’s body was exhumed by the police for autopsy. The result of the autopsy is yet to be released to the public. RMD, Wife Celebrate 23rd Wedding Anniversary Nollywood actor, Richard Mofe-Damijo, popularly known as RMD, and his wife, Jumobi, are celebrating their 23rd wedding anniversary. The actor posted a photo of him and his wife on his Instagram account on Friday. He wrote, “Abiks, how are we even 23 years in this journey of life together?” RMD gained prominence for his part in the late 80’s television soap opera titled ‘Ripples’. He has since then featured in hundreds of Nollywood movies. The couple got married on December 29, 2000. This was after the death of May Ellen-Ezekiel, the actor’s first wife, in 1996. Since she tied the knot with RMD, Jumobi, the popular TV presenter, has been absent from the media space. Their union is blessed with four children — two males, and two females.

 Insecurity: Gumi tells Nigerian Government to negotiate with bandits Controversial Islamic cleric, Sheikh Ahmad Gumi, has called on the President Bola Tinubu-led Federal Government to negotiate with bandits. Gumi said the Nigerian Government should build schools, markets and hospitals for bandits. Speaking on a TV interview, Gumi said Tinubu’s government should allow bandits have a future, rather than continuing to spend billions of Naira to combat banditry and terrorism. According to Gumi: “Negotiate with these people. Build for them schools and hospitals. Let them have future. Build for them markets. “Even the people we call bandits, what they sometimes complain is that they no longer have cattle markets because whenever they establish market, it gets destroyed. “So the military should be out of this picture completely. We are not fighting a foreign country. We should develop our internal security.”

Bloomberg predicts naira will record worst performance in 25years in 2024 Bloomberg, a US-based media organisation, on Friday, predicted that the naira will decline further in 2024. According to the publication, the naira is poised for its worst year since the return to democracy in 1999 adding that analysts are predicting further depreciation in 2024. The report said naira fell 55 percent this year to N1,043 per dollar at the official market on Thursday. The decline, Bloomberg said, made the naira the third worst-performing currency in the world behind the Lebanese pound and the Argentine peso — among 151 currencies tracked by the media firm. It reported foreign reserves in Nigeria are at the lowest in six years with most of them burdened by overdue short-term overseas obligations. In the non-deliverable forwards market, according to the report, the naira’s 12-month contract is trading near a record low of N1,294.44 to the dollar.
