ANAMBRA GOVT RESCUES 13 CHILDREN FROM TRAFFICKERS, ARREST SUSPECTS. (PHOTOS). #PRESS RELEASE.

 Anambra State Govt. Rescues 13 Children From Traffickers, Arrests Suspects By OCHA Brigade Media  13 children have been rescued from suspected child traffickers in Otolo Nnewi by a joint taskforce of Operation Clean And Healthy Anambra, OCHA Brigade and Anambra State Ministry of Women Affairs. The joint taskforce also confiscated fake documents that aided the trafficking.  The children were found malnourished and have been denied education.  Report say that the trafficker adopts and sold children to people from different parts of the country.       Briefing today are Minister of Finance Kemi Adeosun, Minister of Mines and Steel Development Kayode Fayemi and Minister of Power, Works and Housing Babatunde Fashola. Minister of Information Lai Mohammed is chairing. Highlights: - Ministry of Power, Works and Housing: Babatunde Fashola said he presented a report to FEC, to account for all the Council approvals the Ministry obtained since 2015. According to him, there are 66 FEC approvals in total, covering: Roads, Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) projects, Katsina windmill, Afam, Mambilla, Azura Power projects; and some Housing projects.

       The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on Wednesday, January 31, 2018 arraigned five former officials of the Nigeria Medical Association, NMA, Edo State Branch, on a 21-count charge of fraud, stealing, conspiracy to commit felony and false accounting before Justice Efe Ikponwonba of the Edo State High Court sitting in Benin City, Edo State.   The defendants are Dr. Emmanuel Ighodaro, Dr. Anthony Owolabi, Dr. Qui ncy Atoghengbe, Dr. Raymond Ogieva and Dr. Oseremen Gabriel Ogbebor. They were alleged to have conspired to commit felony, punishable under Section 516 of the Criminal Code CAP 48 Laws of Bendel State of Nigeria as applicable to Edo State. KWARA GOVT TO ENGAGE OVER 5000 VULNERABLE YOUTHS FOR PUBLIC WORKS.

      The Kwara State Government will on Thursday, February 1 commence the engagement of the first batch of 1,210 beneficiaries of the World Bank assisted Public Work Fare (PWF) Component of the Youth Employment and Social Support Operations (YESSO). This was made known in a statement issued on Wednesday by the Head of the State Public Workfare Unit, Mr. Aregbe S.O. According to him, the commencement of the programme  follows the approval by Kwara State Governor, Alhaji Abdulfatah Ahmed. Aregbe said the PWF component of the YESSO programme is targeted at providing immediate labour intensive work opportunities for unskilled youths from poor households, and improve their living standard, as beneficiaries will be paid monthly stipend. He said the participating youths are between the ages of 18 and 35 and with less than JSS 3 education. LAGOS TO COMMENCE THE REDEVELOPMENT OF ADENIJI ADELE HOUSING ESTATE.

         The General Manager of Lagos State Urban Renewal Agency (LASURA), Mr. Lateef Sholebo has disclosed that the Redevelopment of Adeniji Adele Housing Phase I-IV Estate, Lagos Island will commence soon. Sholebo, who stated this while speaking with news correspondents on the planned activities of the Agency in Lagos recently revealed that UACN Property Development Company (UPDC) Plc., and ATO Architects Consortium  as prospective developers, who have indicated interest and submitted designs for the projects.      Yesterday  marked the first day of The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge's tour of Sweden and Norway. Their Royal Highnesses were welcomed to Stockholm by members of the Swedish Royal Family at the Royal Palace, took part in a Bandy Hockey event at a local park and in the evening attended a black-tie dinner at the Residence of the British Ambassador.   The Duke and Duchess also had met crowds gathered in Stortorget, the oldest square in the city centre.More photos below.

      Remains of the former Vice President, Alex Ekwueme, have arrived at his residence in Enugu state, shortly after it arrived at the Akanu Ibiam Airport on Monday. The body earlier arrived in Abuja from London, the United Kingdom, after which it was flown to Enugu State where the final interment rites will take place on February 2, 2018.More photos below.
