 Outcries Over State Recognised Vigilantes In North-West   The security outfits established by various state governments, especially in the North-West, are being accused of indiscriminate arrests and killing of suspects, as well as innocent people without recourse to judicial processes, findings by Daily Trust Saturday revealed. But those charged with the responsibility of managing the outfits have debunked the claims of extrajudicial killings, though some admitted what they described as “overzealousness” by some of the operatives. It was alleged that in some states, long lists of suspected bandits, their supporters or sympathisers have been arrested and ultimately killed, and such acts are allegedly being carried out without recourse to the police and other law enforcement agencies. Late Emir Of Kano Prayed For Me To Be Nigeria’s President – Atiku The presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar has said that the late Emir of Kano, Alhaji Ado Bayero, gave his seal of approval for him to become Nigeria’s President with prayers. Atiku stated this on Thursday during a visit to the Emir of Kano, Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero, pledging to do all in his power to uphold the late Emir’s legacy if elected as the country’s President.  Former Premier League footballer, Peter Ndlovu has claimed that he cannot afford to pay 568 in child support for two of his children because he has 11 other kids. Ndlovu, 49, who played in the Premier League for Coventry and also represented Birmingham, Huddersfield and Sheffield United, has become embroiled in a legal battle with the mother of the two children. She wants Ndlovu to pay her 1,420 a month, but the Johannesburg High Court ruled that he should pay her 568 a month, according to The Sun. Ndlovu, who in 1992 became the first African player to feature in the newly-formed Premier League stated that he has had no contact with the two children and hasn't spoken to their mother since their conception.   Ndlovu told the court: 'I have 13 children, including the two children I have with the first respondent.   'I'm obliged to contribute and see to the maintenance needs of all 13 of my children.   'I earn a monthly salary that is utilised for my own living expens

 FG Will Obey S’Court Ruling against  Banning Old Naira Notes, Moves to Vacate Order - Malami Attorney General of the Federation (AGF) and Minister of Justice, Mr. Abubakar Malami, yesterday said while the federal government would obey the Supreme Court ruling, which put on hold the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) demonetisation policy, the government would take necessary steps to set aside the interim order. The Supreme Court had in a ruling on Wednesday suspended the CBN deadline for demonetisation policy and fixed February 15 for hearing on the matter.Malami clarified that the federal government, out of its regard for the rule of law, would abide by the order of the apex court, even though it intended to challenge it and would do so within the provisions of the law.

In a Facebook post that went viral on Friday, Wisdom narrated how he found that his old teacher was now his student. EFCC Arraigns Man For Alleged N30m Fraud in Lagos The Lagos Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC on Thursday, February 9, 2023 arraigned one Ibukunoluwa Olaoye before Justice Mojisola Dada of a Special Offences Court sitting in Ikeja, Lagos on a one-count charge bordering on stealing contrary to Section 287 (1) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State 2015. The count reads: "Ibukunoluwa Olaoye, between 25th April 2022 and 26th April 2022 at Lagos within the jurisdiction of this Honourable Court converted to your personal use, the sum of N30,000,000.00 (Thirty Million Naira), property of Odememfon Felix Ekarika and Chidi Odoemenam."

  35-year-old woman jailed for luring teenage girls into prostitution in Delta State  A 35-year-old woman, Success James has bagged multiple jail terms for luring four teenage girls into prostitution.  The Anambra State Commissioner for Women’s Affairs and Social Welfare, Mrs Ify Obinabo had two days to the 2022 Christmas celebration intercepted four girls aged between 13 and 15 years in Onitsha, who were into prostitution.  The girls confessed that a certain Madam Success, lured them into prostitution, with a promise of a job in a restaurant in Agbor, Delta State.  Obinabo had led security operatives to arrest Madam Success, who was also brought to trial in a Children, Sexual and Gender-Based Violence court in Awka.  The 35-year-old suspect was tried for offences of child labour, child exploitation, abduction of children and child stealing.  Chief Magistrate, Genevieve Osakwe who delivered judgement on the matter on Wednesday found Success James guilty of all the above charges.  She w
