 Noise pollution: Lagos seals five churches, 19 hotels The Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency has temporarily shut down no fewer than five churches and 19 hotels over noise pollution between March 23 and April 26  Calculations by our correspondent also showed that no fewer than four markets and shopping complexes were also shut down over noise pollution and other environmental infractions. The churches that have been temporarily sealed include St Monica’s Hall of Our Lady of Lord’s Catholic Church, Christ Rock of Fire Ministry, Wonderful Bible Prayer Ministries, God’s Porch Ministries, and an unnamed Catholic Church Some of the hotels affected are School2bar, Blue Seasons Hotel and Suites, Sulerious Lakeside Hotel, Monero Hotel and Suites, and Lekki Hotel and Suites.                  GTB,Fidelity and Diamond banks has been suspended by the Nigerian Customs Service {NCS} over their non compliance with the partnership agreement with the agency on the matter.The Public Relations Officer of Nigeria Customs service,Mr Wale Adeniyi,made the fact know in an interview with NAN in Abuja today monday.He said the suspension became effective immediately.Adeniyi named the banks as GT Bank Plc,Fidelity Bank Plc and Diamond Bank Plc and called on relevant stakeholders to take note of the new development.''The three banks were suspended because they did not discharge their full obligation as partners in the customs revenue collection scheme.Unfortunately,they failed to discharge their responsibilities in accordance with the terms of the agreement they signed with Nigeria Customs Service.We might not be able to provide you with the details now but we believe that in the course of our investigations,we will be able to provide more details.However,we will con

           The Ghanaian Government in a statement today said that the Ghanaian authorities yesterday sunday arrested a 36 year old man who carried a weapon into a church where President John Dramani Mahama and his family worship.The unidentified man was arrested after his fidgety and suspicious behavior was noticed during the morning service at an Assemblies of God church in Accra.According to a statement signed by Communications Minister Edward Omane Boamah said  ''He was escorted out by security personnel and following a search,the weapon was found''.The statement did not provide other details about the suspect or the weapon that was allegedly found but further said the president and his family were not in the church at the time of the incident.

                                                       According to sources,the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission,EFCC,on friday,July 24,2015,arraigned six persons before Justice Oluwatoyin Ipaye of the Lagos High Court,Ikeja on a 17 count charge bordering on conspiracy,stealing and forgery.The six accused persons identified as Festus Onile,Olawale Garuba,Abiodun Afainiya,Jayeola Afolabi David,Yewande Adeyemi and Adetoun Kammal,were arrested by the Commission sequel to a petition from a new generation bank which alleged fraudulent transfers and withdrawals of N31 million through ATM and point of sale,POS,from the account of one of its customers.When the charge was read to the accused persons,they all pleaded not.In view of their plea,the prosecution counsel,Abba Mohammed,prayed the court for a trial date and to remain the accused persons in prison custody.However,Seun Adenuga,counsel to the first accused asked for a short adjournment to enable him file for bail.He also prayed th

                    Today monday,President of Somalia gave a defiant warning to al-Shabaab insurgents a day after they killed at least 13 people in a bomb attack on a hotel that houses several diplomatic missions.The White House strongly condemned yesterday bombing calling it ''abhorrent Attack''.Somalia government security officer Ahmed Ali said ''The devastation was huge,and so far 13 people,all of them innocent civilians,have been confirmed dead.Some of the wounded died last night,while other bodies were covered under the wreckaged of nearby building''.The Jazeera Palace hotel is home to the diplomatic missions of China,Qatar and the United Arab Emirates,and is popular among Somali government officials and foreign visitors.Beijing said on monday one of its embassy staff was killed and three others slightly wounded.AU troops helped rescue survivors,including Kenya's ambassador to Somalia.
