  Indian billionaire Gautam Adani charged in US for alleged bribery, fraud Gautam Adani, the chair of Indian conglomerate Adani Group and one of the world’s richest people, whose business empire extends from ports and airports to renewable energy,has been indicted in New York over an alleged multibillion-dollar fraud scheme, United States prosecutors have said. The authorities on Wednesday charged Adani and two other executives at Adani Green Energy, his nephew Sagar Adani and Vneet Jaain, with agreeing between 2020 and 2024 to pay more than $250m in bribes to Indian government officials to obtain solar energy supply contracts expected to yield $2bn in profits. Prosecutors said the renewable energy company also raised more than $3bn in loans and bonds during this period based on false and misleading statements.   N450m Fraud: EFCC Presents Witnesses as Court Throws Out Ex-Minister, Bulama, Others' Applications for Stay of Proceedings A Federal High Court in Damaturu, Yobe State has rejected applications seeking for "stay of proceedings" filed by a former Minister of Science and Technology, Dr. Abdu Bulama and four others in a N450million (Four Hundred and Fifty Million Naira) fraud case. Bulama was re-arraigned on November 8, 2021 alongside a former Commissioner for Integrated and Rural Development in Yobe State, Hon. Two Alleged Armed Robbers Burnt By Onitsha Residents Two alleged armed robbers have met their waterloo as they were burnt beyond recognition by Onitsha residents beside Conoil Filling Station, along Enugu/Onitsha Express road. According to residents who spoke anonymously, the alleged armed robbers who came on a motorcycle, robbed undisclosed amount of money, phones and other items from some Awada residents ,and shot severally in the air to scare people before escaping, but unluckily for them,they were given a hot chase, and were captured after the MCC Junction. The residents placed the motorcycle on top of the armed robbers and burnt them . Some residents who witnessed the incident said the armed robbers were three but one escaped. It was also gathered that they came in the guise of enforcing sit-at-home order.

EFCC Arrests 8 for Internet Fraud in Makurdi Operatives of the EFCC, Makurdi Zonal Command, have arrested 8 suspects for alleged involvement in computer-related fraud. The suspects are: Okoha Chinedu Charles, Chibuizor Philip Nnake, Emmanuela Odeh Eneokpe, Ushir Terhile John, Okoro Ossico Osaro, Ejiofor Chibuizor, Wandoo Juliet Baru and Tarbee Destines. They were arrested on Wednesday, January 19, 2022 during an operation by operatives of the Commission in Makurdi, Benue State. The suspects will be charged to Court as soon as investigations are concluded.

Iyienu Hospital Appeals For Help In Identifying The Identity Of Unconscious Patient  This is to draw the attention of the general public to identify an unknown patient who was brought in to the hospital, unconscious, on the 26th of December 2021. According to the Vigilante Security team that brought her in, she was found lying on the road deeply unconscious on the said day, along Ikemba Second axis of Ogidi, in Idemili-North LGA of Anambra State. By-standers have deduced that she might have been pushed out from a moving vehicle. She was rushed to the Iyienu Mission Hospital's Accident & Emergency Department where she has since been receiving treatment even at the hospital's Intensive Care Unit, after a brain surgery (Craniotomy) was carried out.  No information or data about her has been found yet. TROOPS DISLODGE IPOB/ESN STRONGHOLD AT LILU FOREST IN ANAMBRA STATE Troops of the Nigerian Army(NA) in a joint operations conducted with other security agencies have dislodged a notorious stronghold of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra ( IPOB) and its armed affiliate, Eastern Security Network (ESN) at Lilu Forest in Ihiala Local Government Area of Anambra State. Lilu is a border town between Imo and Anambra States, which was hitherto known to be used as an operational base of the dissidents.
