The President has also approved the appointment of Prince Ebitimi Amgbare as the Managing Director/CEO of the Niger Delta River Basin Development Authority (NDRBDA). Dr. Barikor is an academic and politician. He was a member of the Rivers State House of Assembly from 2011 to 2015, while Prince Amgbare is a retired naval officer and former commissioner in Bayelsa State. Nineteen-year-old Ghaly Nassim was only a few metres away from the al-Haitham banquet hall when the fire broke out on Tuesday evening. He rushed to help five of his friends who were trapped inside. "One door was blocked, so we opened it by force. Massive flames came out of the hall. It was like Hell's doors opened," he said. "The temperature was unbearable. I cannot describe the extreme heat." Customs intercept live parrots, hawk worth N6 million The Nigeria Customs Service, Seme Area Command, has intercepted live endangered species of African Grey Parrots, Green Parrots and a hawk with a combined value of about N6,859,832. Comptroller Timi Bomodi, Customs Area Controller, made this known on Wednesday. According to him, the seizure was based on credible intelligence.  Police smash kidnapping syndicate, arrest suspects in Yobe The Yobe State Police Command has bursted a kidnapping syndicate in Fune Local Government Area of the state. Spokesperson of the Command, Dungus Abdulkarim, disclosed this in a statement made available to newsmen in Damaturu on Wednesday. He said two suspects were arrested in the operation, while one victim was rescued. According to him, police operatives from the Damagun Divisional Headquarters apprehended the syndicate, which operates along Potiskum, Fune and Nangere axis. Kaduna tribunal declares Gov’ship election inconclusive The Governorship Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Kaduna has declared the Kaduna governorship election inconclusive. The petition was filed by the Peoples Democratic Party’s candidate, Isah Mohammed Ashiru against Uba Sani of the All Progressives Congress in the 2023 governorship election held in the state on March 18, 2023. In a split decision of a ratio of 2:1, the three-man tribunal panel led by Justice Victor Oviawe declared that the election was inconclusive and thus directed that a supplementary election should be held by the Independent National Electoral Commission within 90 days. The Peoples Democratic Party had headed to the tribunal to challenge the election of Uba Sani as the sitting Governor of Kaduna State. It was alleged that he resorted to charms and even used a live monitoring lizard to intimidate his landlord whenever rent was requested. The landlord who became frustrated with the Prophet's antics, sought assistance from a neighbour who was subsequently assaulted by Madzibaba Simbarashe.
