 EFCC Taskforce Arrests 34 Suspected Currency Speculators in Abuja Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, attached to the Taskforce on Currency mutilation, Dollarization of the Economy and Forex Malpractice, have arrested 34 suspected currency speculators  for alleged foreign exchange fraud. TROOPS NEUTRALIZE SEVEN BANDITS IN CHIKUN LGA. (PHOTOS).#PRESS RELEASE.

KDSG Security Update: Friday 17th February 2023.  Troops neutralize seven bandits in Chikun LGA  A combined team of troops of the Nigerian Army and Navy have neutralized seven bandits during clearance operations in the Kasso general area of Chikun LGA.  Operational feedback to the Kaduna State Government revealed that the troops embarked on the operations, and made contact with bandits around Ungwan Rimi village in Kasso, near a river. CBN denies asking banks to accept old N500 and N1000 The Central Bank of Nigeria has denied authorizing the deposit banks to collect the old N500 and N1000 bank notes. Thus was contained in a statement by the Director of Corporate Communication of the apex bank Osita Nwanobi and copies made available to newsmen today in Abuja. He reiterated that in line with President Muhammadu Buhari directives only the N200 notes will be re issued and circulated as legal tender until April 10, 2023.

 CBN Orders Banks To Collect Old N500, N1,000 Notes The Central Bank of Nigeria has ordered banks to start collecting the old N500 and N1,000 notes from the public with immediate effect. It, however, pegged the maximum amount the banks can collect at N500,000. The CBN maintained that the old currencies were no more legal tender. A source from the bank said the CBN ordered the banks to collect the monies instead of going to the CBN office following difficulties encountered in getting access to the bank. A CBN official said, “Go to your bank but fill out the form before you go. Go with the reference code you generate. With your code, banks will collect it from you.  Tinubu’s Opponents Own Banks, Can Access Hundreds Of millions – El-Rufai Governor Nasir El-Rufai has said opponents of the All Progressives Congress, APC, presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu have huge funds at their disposal ahead of the general elections. The governor on Thursday addressed the people of Kaduna amid the scarcity of new naira notes after the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, redesigned N200, N500 and N1000 notes. Anambra State Police Command today 17/2/2023 calls on the public especially residents of Abia, Akwa-Ibom and Rivers State to help us identify these children, for a possible reunion with their parents. They are David Frang Male Age 8yrs, Sarah Frang female age 3yrs and Chibuchi Sunday male age 7yrs were recovered from individual suspects who are already in custody.  Given the confessions of the suspects, the children were taken away from their parents in the respective states mentioned above and brought to Anambra State.   The Department of State Service (DSS) has uncovered a plan by Boko Haram terrorists to attack the Abuja-Kaduna train service in the coming days.   The DSS revealed this plot in a memo to the Federal Ministry of Transportation confirming that its intelligence revealed that the Boko Haram t€rrorists are planning to launch a fresh attack on the Abuja-Kaduna train service.   The Ministry of Transportation then wrote to the Federal Minister of Defence, Maj Gen Bashir Magashi, asking for security reinforcement to forestall the t€rrorist attack.   The letter dated, February 3, 2023, and titled, "Re: Threat by Boko Haram terrorists to attack the Abuja-Kaduna Train Service was signed by Mu'azu Jaji Sambo, the Transportation Minister.   It reads: "We are in receipt of a letter reference, S.314/31/C/5390, dated February 1, 2023, from the Department of State Services in respect of the above subject matter. EFCC Docks Yahoo 'Porn star’ The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Abuja Zonal Command, today, February 16, 2023 arraigned one Emmanuel Bassey before Justice J.A Aina of the FCT High Court, Kuje on one count charge bordering personation. The charge reads, “that you, Emmanuel Bassey (aka Natasha) sometime in 2022 at Abuja within the jurisdiction of this Honourable Court, through a platform called Reddit cheats by pretending to be a porn star named Natasha, in that regard you pose as female to trick your victims, which delivered to you the sum of $300 (Three Hundred Dollars) and you thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under Sections 321 and 322 of the Penal Code Act, Laws of the Federation (Abuja) 1990”.  The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge and was offered bail in the sum of N50,000 and a surety in like sum who must not be less than a Grade Level 10 officer in the civil service.
