 EFCC Taskforce Arrests 34 Suspected Currency Speculators in Abuja Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, attached to the Taskforce on Currency mutilation, Dollarization of the Economy and Forex Malpractice, have arrested 34 suspected currency speculators  for alleged foreign exchange fraud. They were arrested on Friday, April 26, 2024 in a sting operation following credible intelligence about illegal sales of dollars at the Wuse Zone 4 area of the Federal Capital Territory Abuja.   The suspects are :Usman Mohammed, Abdullahi Nasir, Abubakar Saleh, Mohammed Kabir Ibrahim, Abubakar Ghadafi, Muktar Usman, Umar Abubakar Abba, Yakubu Sani, Aminu Abubakar, Muhammed Suleman Abara, Yusuf Tahir, Usman Lawal, Usman Lawal, Usman Umar, Amina Garba Rola, Muhammed Aliyu, Murtala Haruna, Sani Mohammed, Umar Farouk, Muhammed Sagiuru, Aminu Salisu, Lawal Bello, Munzali Hashim, Jamilu Suleiman, Mustapha Umar, Mubarak Tanimu, Adamu Garba, Mohammed Usman, Bello Musa, Saleh Moha

                          Lagos State Ministry of Youths and Social Development,in collaboration with Rated Cranes and Scaffold Nigeria Limited,commenced a Seven-Day Vocational Training Programme in Plant and Heavy Equipment for over 1,000 unemployed youths in the state.Speaking at the Gbagada and Oshodi Youth Centre during the opening ceremony of the training programme,the State Commissioner for the Ministry of Youth and Social Development,Mrs Uzamat Akinbile-Yussuf said the vocational training programme is targeted at bridging the gap between what the vocational centre offers and demand of employers of labour.She noted that it is in fulfilment of the commitment of the state government to promote and encourage the acquisition of technical skill as a catalyst for youth empowerment,job and wealth creation.The Commissioner,who was represented by the Director,School Social Services in the Ministry,Mrs Foluke Omotosho,stated that ''The training programme is a life transforming exer

                    In what is set to become a major milestone achievement in its 50 years of existence,the Lagos State Government on wednesday signed a Memorandum of Understanding {MoU} to kick start the construction of the 38km 4th Mainland Bridge,expected to bring a 14 year old dream to reality.The Bridge,which is geared towards economic growth in the State,is expected to gulp N844 billion in a Public Private Partnership {PPP} initiative and would be delivered in three years.Speaking at the signing of the MoU held at the Banquet Hall,Lagos House,Ikeja,State Governor,Mr Akinwunmi Ambode,said that the need for the bridge had become imperative following the phenomenal growth of the State with a population of over 21 million people,which has in turn increased commercial activities and traffic gridlock.''This has made it imperative for us to have a 4th Mainland Bridge that will serve as an alternative route to the Eastern axis and decongest traffic in the State.More importantly t

                                                              The EFCC,on 25th May 2016 secured the conviction of one Mallam Kabiru Jibrin before Justice Joseph Awak of Gombe State High Court after he was found guilty of a three count charge bordering on obtaining one million,five hhundred and sixty thousand naira {N1.560.000} by false pretence.The complainant,Aliyu Audu Awwal,had alleged that the convict defrauded him and one Mallam Hussani Kumo,of the sum of N1.560,000 on the pretext that the said amount will be used to secure Hajj seats for them which he never did but diverted the money for his personal use.Kumo also alleged that the convict collected his Honda Accord car 2005 model under the guise that he will sell the car and use the proceed to secure additional Hajj seats which he never did.

POLICE ARRESTED 5 OF THE SUSPECTS INVOLVED IN THE ATTACK ON ENUGU NIMBO COMMUNITY.{PHOTOS}.

                 The Nigerian Police Force in its renewed determination to rid the society of crimes and all forms of criminality,has arrested five of the suspects involved in the midnight raid on Ni,bo community in Uzo-Uwani Local Government Area of Enugu State on 25/04/2016,as operatives of the IGP's Intelligence Response Team {IRT} based on credible technical intelligence swooped on them.The IGP's IRT,based on the intelligence gathered on the attack,arrested the following suspects viz: Mohammed Zurai,Ciroma Musa,Sale Adamu,Suleiman Laute and Haruna Laute,and recovered one Gionee L88 mobile phone with memory card containing the video recording of the massacre in the community.Also,the Team on the 06/05/2016 busted a 3-man syndicate of deadly bank robbers/kidnappers and recovered arms,ammunition,dynamites and rifles servicing tools from them.The gang members,Gogo Daniel Ume,Ikado Michael and Ifeanyi Kalu had been terrorizing Rivers,Imo and Enugu state,respectively.Items recove
