  Indian billionaire Gautam Adani charged in US for alleged bribery, fraud Gautam Adani, the chair of Indian conglomerate Adani Group and one of the world’s richest people, whose business empire extends from ports and airports to renewable energy,has been indicted in New York over an alleged multibillion-dollar fraud scheme, United States prosecutors have said. The authorities on Wednesday charged Adani and two other executives at Adani Green Energy, his nephew Sagar Adani and Vneet Jaain, with agreeing between 2020 and 2024 to pay more than $250m in bribes to Indian government officials to obtain solar energy supply contracts expected to yield $2bn in profits. Prosecutors said the renewable energy company also raised more than $3bn in loans and bonds during this period based on false and misleading statements. ZAMFARA APC: APPEAL COURT DISMISSED APC APPEAL CHALLENGING THE JUDGMENT OF THE LOWER COURT.

       The Appeal court sitting in Sokoto has dismissed the appeal challenging the judgment of the lower court which upheld the primaries of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Zamfara state. A three-member panel of judges unanimously dismissed the appeal following its withdrawal by the appellant, Aminu Jaji. Recall on Monday that the three judges of the Appeal Court in Sokoto withdrew from the case over bribery allegation to the tune of $3million (dollars). One of the respondents, Kabiru Marafa, alleged that there was bribery allegation against the judges which made them lose confidence in them. Counsel to Senator Marafa, Barrister Muhammad Nuhu, alleged that there was a posting on social media platform, alleging that the judges had received three million Dollars from one Kabiru Kamba to compromise. “Because of that my client is not comfortable with them and urge the president of the Court of Appeal to constitute a new panel to entertain the case,” he said.       Officials of the Ministry of Power, Works and Housing, led by Kingsley Odoh, Senior Special Consultant of the Ministry, on February 13, 2019 handed over the power infrastructure installed at the Head Office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC to the management of the anti-graft agency, led by Acting Chairman of the EFCC, Ibrahim Magu. The handover ceremony was carried out in the company of the Commission’s Secretary, Ola Olukoyede, and other officials of the agency.     Heidi Klum,Mel B and Tyra Banks are not coming back as judges and host of the 2019 American Got Talent.They are being replaced by Gabrielle Union,Terry Crews and Julianne Hough.Though am yet to confirm if the removal of these judges was voluntary or they were sacked but I know Tyra Banks is planning to open her own version of Disney park but instead she called it ''Model Land''. According to another source '' America's Got Talent   is shaking up its judges' table, adding Gabrielle Union and Julianne Hough for the show's 14th season.  NBC's flagship summer series will also have a new host in Terry Crews.      The operatives of Rapid Response Squad (RRS), a unit of the Lagos State Police Command have arrested two suspected robbers for killing a UBER driver and stealing his Hyundai Elantra car with the registration number EPE 676 EC. The arrest of the suspects followed a directive from the new State Police boss, Zubairu Muazu to the Commander of the RRS, Olatunji Disu that the culprits should be fished out and made to face the full wrat h of the law. The two suspects: Humble Peter Robert, 33, and Gideon Achibong, 36, were arrested in Aboki Estate, Lekki, Lagos while removing the car parts for sale to a scrap metal dealer. Investigations by the police revealed that Peter Robert, an ex-convict and a bus conductor, in the company of three others, now at large, had three days before his arrest conspired to hijack a UBER car and sell it off.
