The authorities on Wednesday charged Adani and two other executives at Adani Green Energy, his nephew Sagar Adani and Vneet Jaain, with agreeing between 2020 and 2024 to pay more than $250m in bribes to Indian government officials to obtain solar energy supply contracts expected to yield $2bn in profits. Prosecutors said the renewable energy company also raised more than $3bn in loans and bonds during this period based on false and misleading statements. Nine Members Of IPOB Arrested Over The Murder Of Police Officers In Imo State All Rights Reserved The police command in Imo says it has arrested nine suspected members of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) over the murder of five officers and two civilians in the state. On April 21, gunmen killed the officers and a couple identified as Mr and Mrs Nwagu during an attack at Okpala community in Ngor-Okpala LGA, Imo state. The gunmen were said to have attacked the police officers while they were eating at a restaurant. Henry Okoye, Imo police spokesperson, in a statement on Sunday, said the suspects were apprehended at their hideout in Ezinihitte-Mbaise LGA on Thursday. The intelligence enumerated the activities of a suspected fraudulent platform called “AMC Stock Experts” and how the said platform had succeeded in defrauding unsuspecting members of the global Cyber Community to the tune of thousands of dollars. Upon the receipt of this intelligence, Seasoned Cybercrime Forensic and Intelligence Assets under the supervision of DCP Uche Ifeanyi Henry, the Director NCCC, were deployed on the Case. Fierce clashes erupt as France faces largest May Day protests in 30 years Police deploy tear gas, stun grenades and riot guns against protesters armed with stones and Molotov cocktails Protests were widespread across France in several big cities, including Paris, Lyon and Nantes, where protesters threw stones and set fire to the local council building. 'No Plan To Phase Out New Banknotes’ - CBN Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) says it has no plan to phase out the newly redesigned banknotes as more of the banknotes will be in circulation soon. The Apex Bank was reacting to recent news making rounds that the newly designed notes will be phased out soon. In a statement, CBN’s Acting Director of Corporate Communications, Isa AbduMumimas described the reports as baseless and an attempt by some persons to cause panic amongst Nigerians. The Apex bank said the old and newly redesigned notes would be in circulation side by side. “We wish to reiterate that the new and old currency notes have been circulating side by side just as the Bank has been taking delivery of a good quantity of the redesigned bank notes from the Nigerian Security Printing and Minting Company (NSPMC) Limited.” The bank stated. IPPIS Under Investigation Over Alleged Salary Padding The Office of the Accountant-General of the Federation (OAGF) has launched a forensic audit into reports of a breach of the Integrated Personnel and Payroll and Information System (IPPIS). In a statement by the Director of Press and Public Relations in the OAGF, Bawa Mokwa, the Office had received inquiries over alleged “salary padding” on IPPIS involving some unspecified Ministries, Departments, and Agencies. It says that although there was no evidence of “salary padding” before the OAGF at this time; however, the statement says the office is aware of a reported breach of the IPPIS third-party payment protocol at an Institute outside Abuja. It stated that the incident had since been reported, and was being investigated by relevant anti-corruption, security, and regulatory agencies. May 1, 2023 One of the buses conveying stranded Nigerians from Khartoum, the Sudanese capital, to Port Sudan where they will move into Saudi Arabia caught fire in the early hours of Monday. Twenty-six buses conveying the stranded Nigerians left Al Razi around 12:am on Monday for Port Sudan. “One of the buses conveying some 50 Nigerian students from Sudan with a tag number (Katsina 1) heading to Port Sudan as part of the second batch of FGN evacuation got damaged due to excessive heat from one of the vehicle’s tyres. “Dr Hashim Idris Na’Allah, the chairman of the Nigerian Elders’ Forum in Sudan, was one of the passengers in the said bus, which contained a total of 50 students (49 males, 1 female). “The incident happened around 2:30am Sudan time. “The driver stopped the bus near an RSF checkpoint, just before the tire exploded causing a fire to start. “All the passengers escaped unhurt. “Forty out of the 50 passengers were later distributed to the other buses evacuating the students, whi

FG Evacuates More Nigerians From Sudan Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and social Development says 31 more buses are currently leaving Sudan with Nigerians to the nearest evacuation borders. The Permanent secretary in the Ministry, Dr. Nasir Sani-Gwarzo said the 31 buses are an addition to the 13 that had earlier evacuated part of the 5,500 Nigerians from Sudan to the border of Egypt.
