EFCC TASKFORCE ARRESTS 34 SUSPECTED CURRENCY SPECULATORS IN ABUJA. (PHOTOS). #PRESS RELEASE.

 EFCC Taskforce Arrests 34 Suspected Currency Speculators in Abuja Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, attached to the Taskforce on Currency mutilation, Dollarization of the Economy and Forex Malpractice, have arrested 34 suspected currency speculators  for alleged foreign exchange fraud. They were arrested on Friday, April 26, 2024 in a sting operation following credible intelligence about illegal sales of dollars at the Wuse Zone 4 area of the Federal Capital Territory Abuja.   The suspects are :Usman Mohammed, Abdullahi Nasir, Abubakar Saleh, Mohammed Kabir Ibrahim, Abubakar Ghadafi, Muktar Usman, Umar Abubakar Abba, Yakubu Sani, Aminu Abubakar, Muhammed Suleman Abara, Yusuf Tahir, Usman Lawal, Usman Lawal, Usman Umar, Amina Garba Rola, Muhammed Aliyu, Murtala Haruna, Sani Mohammed, Umar Farouk, Muhammed Sagiuru, Aminu Salisu, Lawal Bello, Munzali Hashim, Jamilu Suleiman, Mustapha Umar, Mubarak Tanimu, Adamu Garba, Mohammed Usman, Bello Musa, Saleh Moha

TRANSPORTATION: UK AGENCY OFFERS TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE TO OGUN.{PHOTOS}.#PRESS RELEASE.

  A United Kingdom based development agency, Prosperity Fund, has expressed its readiness to offer technical assistance to Ogun State in its efforts at putting in place efficient and sustainable transportation system. This, according to the agency, would fast track the socio-economic development of the state. Speaking during the presentation of report by the Committee on Transportation, on Wednesday, at the Governor's Office Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, Head, Prosperity Fund Nigeria, Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office, Martha Bostock, said the fund would help the state build capacity in its transport department for sustainability. "Future Cities in Nigeria will offer technical assistant to Ogun State. It is about helping to build capacity within the state government's department like the Ministry of Transportation and other relevant agencies about what a good transport policy should include.   •MSMEs, Farmers among Top Beneficiaries of Economic Stimulus Programme •Project Funded Through World Bank Facility Lagos State Government has rolled out a $20 million Coronavirus (COVID-19) Action Recovery and Economic Stimulus (Lagos CARES) Programme to support livelihood for poor and vulnerable households and to expand food security services in the State. At the State House, Alausa, on Wednesday, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu launched the social intervention project that is focused on offering safety net to residents whose means of livelihood had been disrupted by the impacts of COVID-19 and also to building resilience of the State. The programme, which will be implemented for 24 months, is being funded through $750 million facility secured from the World Bank by the Federal Government for Nigeria-CARES project. Other states also benefited from the stimulus programme. Lagos CARES will directly support 20,843 households and indirectly support 125,058 individuals within the State. The

  The Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, on Wednesday, approved the release and handing over of 10 brand new, 56 seater buses to Public Servants in different arms of Government, as part of his commitment to ease transportation challenges encountered by workers in commuting to and from their homes to various offices. The Head of Service, Mr. Hakeem Muri-Okunola, while presenting the 10 new sets of buses at the Lagos House Ikeja, stated that the kind gesture of Mr. Governor is a follow up to the 35 buses allocated to the Centralised Staff Bus Scheme (CSB) a week after assumption of office, adding that the presentation, which was based on requests, attests to the commitment of the State government to priority welfare for public servants.   Earlier today, the official launch and handover ceremony of the Blue Bus under the Prevention of trafficking in persons through a travelling awareness-raising exposition of the International Organization for Migration (IOM) and NAPTIP took place in Lagos State. In attendance were, IOM Chief of mission, Franz Celetine, Consul General of Switzerland in Lagos Thomas Schneider, Migration Adviser, Swiss Embassy, Manuel Muhlbach, Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim DG NAPTIP represented by Director Legal, Hassan Tahir. The Blue Bus is a one-stop shop where vulnerable migrants, including community members, can get information on risks associated with trafficking in persons, where to report cases, and on-spot counselling services.More photos below.
