Rescues 13 Children From Traffickers, Arrests Suspects By OCHA Brigade Media  13 children have been rescued from suspected child traffickers in Otolo Nnewi by a joint taskforce of Operation Clean And Healthy Anambra, OCHA Brigade and Anambra State Ministry of Women Affairs. The joint taskforce also confiscated fake documents that aided the trafficking.  The children were found malnourished and have been denied education.  Report say that the trafficker adopts and sold children to people from different parts of the country. Bill Cosby had his conviction for sexual assault overturned by a Pennsylvania appeals court on Wednesday and was freed from prison, a dramatic reversal in a case had represented the first high-profile sexual assault trial to unfold in the aftermath of the #MeToo movement. Mr. Cosby had served three years of a three- to 10-year prison sentence at a maximum-security facility outside Philadelphia when the seven-member Pennsylvania Supreme Court ruled that Mr. Cosby, 83, had been denied a fair trial in 2018. One of Mr. Cosby’s lawyers on the appeal, Brian W. Perry, said that his client was released from prison shortly after 2 p.m. and was headed to his home in suburban Philadelphia. The Nigerian Army today 30 June 2021,  observed the 40th day prayers for the repose of the souls of the former Chief of Army Staff (COAS), late Lieutenant General Ibrahim Attahiru and 10 other personnel, who died in the unfortunate air mishap of 21 May 2021 at the Kaduna International Airport. The COAS, Major General Faruk Yahaya expressed his condolence to the widows, children and relations of the deceased.   A 70-year-old British national identified as David Henry Graves has committed suicide, police in the district have confirmed. Mangochi Police says the incident occurred in the wee hours of June 7, 2021 at Michesi Village in the area of Traditional Authority Mponda in the district. According to Sub Inspector Amina Tepani Daudi (in the picture), the deceased's wife, Jane Rex, 34, in the afternoon of June 6, 2021 as usual went out drinking with friends and left the husband at home. "She came back totally drunk in the wee hours of the next day and went straight to bed, but was awakened by their son in the morning who informed her that he saw his father hanging to the roof of the kitchen. The wife rushed to the kitchen where she found her husband lifeless," said Daudi. Police say the wife found a suicide message which was sent to her by her husband before taking his own life. Obile of the Federal High Court sitting in Port Harcourt, Rivers State on Monday, June 28, 2021 convicted and sentenced Ekene Alobo, to two years imprisonment for stealing and obtaining money by false pretence, contrary to section 33 (2) (b) of the Cybercrime (Prohibition, Prevention etc) Act, 2015 and punishable under Section 33 (2) (c) of the same Act.  Alobo, 28, was convicted after pleading ‘guilty’ to one-count charge bordering on stealing and obtaining under false pretences. Umar and his accomplice had earlier been convicted of a three count charge by an Adamawa State High Court and sentenced to Seven (7) years imprisonment for receiving monetary benefit (bribery) to the tune of N362 million, being part of the bribe allegedly distributed by a former minister of petroleum resources, Diezani Alison-Madueke to influence the outcome of the 2015 elections.     Umar was arraigned alongside a former staff of a new generation bank by the EFCC on September 28, 2018. Kano State High Court presided over by Justice Farouq Lawan today June 30, 2021 convicted and sentenced the duo of Jude Ameh and Ademola Aderibigbe on a one count amended charge of theft. The convicts were said to have connived and fraudulently stole the sum of N11, 360,000 (Eleven Million Three Hundred and Sixty Thousand Naira only) from the complainant for their personal use. Upon arraignment, both convicts had pleaded ‘not guilty’ to the 17-count charge brought against them. Prosecution counsel Salihu Sani requested a date to proceed to trial. However, before the commencement of trial, the convicts approached the Commission with a plea bargain proposal which was subsequently accepted by the parties. At the resumed hearing of the matter today, the convicts changed their plea from ‘not guilty’ to ‘guilty’ to an amended one count charge.
