 EFCC Taskforce Arrests 34 Suspected Currency Speculators in Abuja Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, attached to the Taskforce on Currency mutilation, Dollarization of the Economy and Forex Malpractice, have arrested 34 suspected currency speculators  for alleged foreign exchange fraud. They were arrested on Friday, April 26, 2024 in a sting operation following credible intelligence about illegal sales of dollars at the Wuse Zone 4 area of the Federal Capital Territory Abuja.   The suspects are :Usman Mohammed, Abdullahi Nasir, Abubakar Saleh, Mohammed Kabir Ibrahim, Abubakar Ghadafi, Muktar Usman, Umar Abubakar Abba, Yakubu Sani, Aminu Abubakar, Muhammed Suleman Abara, Yusuf Tahir, Usman Lawal, Usman Lawal, Usman Umar, Amina Garba Rola, Muhammed Aliyu, Murtala Haruna, Sani Mohammed, Umar Farouk, Muhammed Sagiuru, Aminu Salisu, Lawal Bello, Munzali Hashim, Jamilu Suleiman, Mustapha Umar, Mubarak Tanimu, Adamu Garba, Mohammed Usman, Bello Musa, Saleh Moha

        … Commences Provision of Pump Stations With Pilot At Ilubirin The Lagos State Government, over the weekend, alerted residents on impending heavy rainfall from the end of August, saying it is intensifying measures to minimise the effects on Lagosians. Addressing the press at Alausa, the Honourable Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, Mr. Tunji Bello said work is ongoing on more than 200 secondary channels with over 80 percent at various stages of completion, just as 46 primary channels are presently receiving attention. He disclosed that the ongoing projects are in addition to the continuous work of the Emergency Flood Abatement Gang (EFAG) deployed round the State to undertake quick fix to free manholes or clogged drains manually. A MAN DROWNED IN A POOL, IN A GUEST HOUSE IN ONITSHA AFTER HE DRANK AND JUMPED INTO THE DEEPEST PART OF THE POOL.{PHOTO}.#PRESS RELEASE.

          *DROWNING* On the 15/8/2020 at about 8:30pm, there was a report at Central Police Station Onitsha that one Izuchukwu Achusim 'm' aged 42 years of NO,35 Guest house street ,fegge went to Lotus Garden hotel in Onitsha with his girl friend to Swim inside the swimming pool. However,victim who was said to be drunk jumped into the deepest part of the pool and got drowned.The hotel manager and other guests pulled the victim out and rushed him to waterside hospital Onitsha for medical attention but he was later certified death by a medical Doctor on duty. Scene was visited by Police detectives and corpse photographed and deposited at the hospital mortuary for autopsy. In her address at the completion of the two-day workshop, which had its maiden edition in 2019, the General Manager, LASDRI, Mrs. Afusat Tiamiyu, stated that the event was organised to update the Driving Sc hool Instructors on Traffic Rules and Regulations. She added that it was also meant to showcase the qualities of a responsible driver, refresh and update the skills of the Driving School instructors operating in Lagos and enhance capacity building in the training of first-line drivers. AMAECHI TASKS CCECC TO DELIVER LAGOS-IBADAN RAIL PROJECT IN FIVE MONTHS.{PHOTO},#PRESS RELEASE.

          The Minister of Transportation, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, has tasked Messrs China Civil Engineering Construction Company (CCECC), the contractors handling the Lagos-Ibadan Standard Gauge Rail to complete the project within five months. He argued that COVID-19 has come to stay thus, Messrs CCECC are to devise measures of completing the project. He urged them to procure personal protective equipme nts for their workers as no excuse for failure would be accepted. The Minister who made this known today in Lagos when he recommenced inspection of the Lagos-Ibadan rail project in the company of his Information and Culture counterpart, Ahaji Lai Mohammed, noted that funds is not the challenge being faced on the $1.6 bn project but rather lack of workers.
