Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom and some of his counterparts in other states will participate in a forum on deepening democratic governance in Nigeria scheduled to take place in Washington DC, United States of America, this week. The forum which will open on Wednesday, November 20, is organised by the United States Institute of Peace, USIP. The aim of the forum is to engage leading Nigerian, American, and international leaders from government, civil society, business and academia in fostering critical conversations and proferring solutions to Nigeria's governance issues. In the letter inviting Governor Ortom to the Washington meeting, the Vice President of USIP for Middle East and Africa, Dr Michael Yaffe said the Nigerian Governors and other stakeholders will also deliberate on ways of ending polarisation and conflicts affecting the growth of Nigeria's democracy.
