 Govt extends search for fleeing 4,000 inmates to IDP camps …to comb villages, towns, environs of fugitive prisoners  The Nigeria Correctional Service has stepped up efforts to track down and recapture escaped inmates of the Suleja Medium Security Custodial Centre, Niger State, Saturday PUNCH has learnt. The Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, on Thursday, said the government would relocate a lot of correctional centres to create better infrastructure and security. Tunji-Ojo made the pledge when he visited the Niger custodial centre, where 119 inmates had escaped following a rainstorm that damaged the facility on Wednesday. This was contained in a statement issued in Abuja by the Director of Press and Public Relations of the ministry, Ozoya Imohimi. The minister said it was imperative to relocate a lot of the correctional centres to a conducive environment. “This facility was built in 1914 to house 250 inmates. Relief as CBN suspends charges on large cash deposits   Relief came the way of bank depositors on Monday as the Central Bank of Nigeria has directed all banks, other financial institutions, and non-bank financial institutions, to suspend the processing charges previously imposed on large cash deposits. This change, referenced under the “Guide to Charges by Banks, Other Financial Institutions, and Non-Bank Financial Institutions” dated December 20, 2019 (FPR/DIR/GEN/CIR/07/042), affects deposits over N500,000 for individual accounts and N3,000,000 for corporate accounts. Scores Killed As Gunmen Attack Anambra Nightclub  Unknown gunmen reportedly attacked a nightclub in Oba, Idemili North Local Government Area of Anambra State, k!lling several persons.    It was gathered that the incident happened at Porsche Nightclub on Sunday night, December 10, 2023.    Details of the incident are still sketchy at the time of filing this report, however it was gathered that the assailants allegedly came to kidnap the owner of the club but were resisted by security men on duty.    The gunmen were said to have started shooting sporadically, k!lling some people in the process.   The assailants also b£h^eaded one of the security men.

Aisha Bello, A Long-Serving Broadcaster At NTA Network News, Has Sadly Passed Away One of the ace casters of the Nigerian Television Authority Aisha Bello Mustapha is dead. A reliable source from the NTA family informed that Aisha’s funeral prayer will take place on Monday at 1 pm at the National Mosque in Abuja. Aisha Bello Mustapha was the  General Manager  NTA Parliament and was among the popular casters on NTA Network News at 9 PM in the ’90s and early 20’s She retired in May 2022 after thirty five years in service.

Dangote refinery: Diesel, JetA1 hit market January, petrol delayed The Dangote Petroleum Refinery is set to start producing Automotive Gas Oil, also known as diesel, and JetA1 or aviation fuel in January 2024, while the production of Premium Motor Spirit, popularly called petrol, is being delayed by the supply of crude oil in installments. It was gathered on Sunday that the facility would require a minimum of six million barrels of crude oil to kick-start the full production of refined petroleum products including AGO, PMS, Jet A1 and Dual Purpose Kerosene, otherwise called kerosene. But what the refinery got last week was one million barrels of crude, while the remaining five million barrels would arrive at the $20bn facility in another five installments.
