 EFCC Taskforce Arrests 34 Suspected Currency Speculators in Abuja Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, attached to the Taskforce on Currency mutilation, Dollarization of the Economy and Forex Malpractice, have arrested 34 suspected currency speculators  for alleged foreign exchange fraud. This is the second significant celebration in Islam. The announcement was made on Wednesday by the National Moonsighting Committee Nigeria on its Twitter handle, @moonsightingng. Corruption: ICPC docks NSCDC Deputy Commandant over N26.7m Fraud The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has docked a Deputy Commandant of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC), Mr. Edike Mboutidem Akpan, for defrauding prospective home owners of N26,655,000. Mr. Akpan was charged before Justice V. S. Gaba of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) High Court, sitting in Kwali, Abuja on a 17-count charge, that include using a private real estate company, Danemy Nig Ltd, to defraud land subscribers. The charge sheet revealed that the deputy commandant convinced many subscribers with the claim of being in partnership with NSCDC, to pay various sums of money for plots of land both in Karshi, Nasarawa State and Sabon Lugbe Extension, Airport Road, Abuja, which were never allocated to them. NO ATTACK ON CRITICAL NATIONAL INFRASTRUCTURE…TROOPS AMBUSHED IN RESPONSE TO DISTRESS CALL IN SHIRORO On Wednesday 29 June 2022, troops of the Nigerian Army (NA) deployed in Shiroro general area responded to a distress call of bandits attack on people operating a mining site. Enroute the location, the troops ran into an ambush staged by the criminal elements. Sadly, a number of personnel paid the supreme price in fierce firefight that ensued.  Subsequently, the location has been reinforced and troops are on the trail of the criminals with some already neutralized. A drama was staged at the Okpoko magistrate court in the Ogbaru Local Government Area, near Onitsha, Anambra State, on Thursday, when proceedings were disrupted as a lawyer, identified as Ogbachalu Goshen, appeared in court dressed in full priest robes, looking like a reverend. The court proceedings, presided by Her Worship CB Mbaegbu, were on until a matter was called up and Goshen announced his appearance as a defence counsel. When the Magistrate told him he cannot appear and address the court in that regalia, he objected, citíng the recent Supreme Court judgement that gave female students the backing to wear hijab in public schools as a precedent. As the Magistrate stood her ground that he cannot appear in her court in that mode of dressing, Goshen also insìsted that it was his right and that the objection by the Magistrate was an infríngęmeńt on his fundamental rights as enshríned in Section 38 of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.  Kaduna Community Pays Bandits N400m To Stop Attacks A community leader from the Birnin Gwari Emirate Council in Birnin Gwari Local Government Area of Kaduna State, Alhaji Zubairu Abdulra’uf, has lamented how members of the communities paid N400m to bandits to enable them to go to their farms. This is just as he said the people of the emirate had resorted to defending themselves against terrorists that had over the years taken over the area. He told journalists in Kaduna on Thursday that the constant attacks on communities had paralyzed economic activities in their rural areas and made travelling in the area impossible. According to Abdulra’uf, N200m was paid to bandits in Randegi district alone.

Man Who Disguised As A Woman In RCCG Lagos, Caught & Stripped A suspected thief who disguised as a woman was caught after he entered the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) solid rock Chapel in Lagos. The suspected was caught on Thursday morning, June 30 in Ojodu area of the state. The suspect was caught by a security guard on duty after he became suspicious of him. The security guard was said to have confronted and searched him and consequently discovered he was a man dressed like a woman. The mission of the suspected is yet to be ascertained according to a member of the church who witnessed the incident. The suspect has been handle over to the police. More photos below.

Anambra Confirms First Monkeypox Case, Declares Outbreak The Anambra State Government says that one out of the two suspected cases of monkeypox reported in the state has been confirmed positive. Dr Afam Obidike, the state’s Commissioner for Health, made the disclosure at a news conference in Awka on Thursday. Mr Obidike said that the state had been on alert mode following the report of the disease early this year across some states in the country. According to him, the state emergency preparedness and response team put all the relevant surveillance measures in place toward ending the spread of the outbreak. “Few weeks ago, two suspected cases of monkeypox were reported in Anambra East, Onitsha and Oyi Local Government Areas (LGAs), out of which the case from Anambra East LGA was confirmed positive. “The case is currently at the isolation centre of the Nnamdi Azikiwe University Teaching Hospital, Nnewi, where he is receiving treatment and recovering. “In light of the above, Gov.
