 STATE HOUSE PRESS RELEASE  PRESIDENT TINUBU APPOINTS CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICERS OF TWO AGENCIES  President Bola Tinubu has approved the appointment of Dr. Innocent Bariate Barikor as the Director-General of the National Environmental Standards and Regulation Enforcement Agency (NESREA). The President has also approved the appointment of Prince Ebitimi Amgbare as the Managing Director/CEO of the Niger Delta River Basin Development Authority (NDRBDA). Dr. Barikor is an academic and politician. He was a member of the Rivers State House of Assembly from 2011 to 2015, while Prince Amgbare is a retired naval officer and former commissioner in Bayelsa State. The President expects that the new heads of these important agencies will discharge their duties with utmost fidelity to the nation and unfailing adherence to the highest standards of professionalism, accountability, and excellent service to the people of Nigeria.   Nigeria Afrobeats stars Burna Boy and Wizkid have both won awards at the 2021 Grammys. Burna Boy won the Best Global Music Album category while Wizkid won the Best Music Video for his song with Beyoncé; Brown Skin Girl, from Lion King: The Gift album. Beyoncé's daughter Blue Ivy was also a winner on the song. The Best Music Video award is given to the artist, video director and video producer. Burna Boy, real name Damini Ogulu, a nominee for a second consecutive year, won with his Twice As Tall album. The 63rd Grammy Awards is being held in Los Angeles.   (Reuters) - AstraZeneca Plc on Sunday said it had conducted a review of people vaccinated with its COVID-19 vaccine which has shown no evidence of an increased risk of blood clots. The review covered more than 17 million people vaccinated in the European Union and United Kingdom. “A careful review of all available safety data of more than 17 million people vaccinated in the European Union and UK with COVID-19 Vaccine AstraZeneca has shown no evidence of an increased risk of pulmonary embolism, deep vein thrombosis or thrombocytopenia, in any defined age group, gender, batch or in any particular country,” the statement said. Authorities in Denmark, Norway and Iceland have suspended the use of the vaccine over clotting issues, while Austria stopped using a batch of AstraZeneca shots last week while investigating a death from coagulation disorders.   Gombe state Government is set to commence the payment of another tranche of outstanding gratuity to retired civil servants in the state. This follows the release of 775 million Naira by Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya for the payment of the retirees' benefits. Sequel to the Governor's directives, the committee set up by His Excellency to verify and ascertain the correctness of outstanding gratuity owed state retirees has concluded arrangements to commence the payment and therefore requests retired state civil servants from January to December 2015, to come forward for verfication and collection of their entitlements. The exercise, according to the Chairman of the committee and State Auditor-General, Muhammad Buba Gombe will hold tomorrow, Monday, 15th March, 2021 at the Treasury Headquarters, Gombe by 9:00 O'clock in the morning.   It is with a heart full of gratitude to God Almighty that I welcome all of you to this Interdenominational thanksgiving church Service marking the start of the celebration of my one year in office as the validly elected governor of Imo State. I thank, in a special way, those of you who inspite of your usually crowded schedules, travelled far distances to be with us at this special event. For Imo people, today's outing is unique and special. It is an emotional reminder of the long, rough, road we travelled, over a year ago, to get justice. Many of our people still recall, with a great sense of trepidation, how the forces of darkness fought in vain to deny me of my victory at the polls. Many will rather not remember those dark days, when justice appeared illusive and the fate of Imo people hung on the balance.
