 STATE HOUSE PRESS RELEASE  PRESIDENT TINUBU APPOINTS CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICERS OF TWO AGENCIES  President Bola Tinubu has approved the appointment of Dr. Innocent Bariate Barikor as the Director-General of the National Environmental Standards and Regulation Enforcement Agency (NESREA). The President has also approved the appointment of Prince Ebitimi Amgbare as the Managing Director/CEO of the Niger Delta River Basin Development Authority (NDRBDA). Dr. Barikor is an academic and politician. He was a member of the Rivers State House of Assembly from 2011 to 2015, while Prince Amgbare is a retired naval officer and former commissioner in Bayelsa State. The President expects that the new heads of these important agencies will discharge their duties with utmost fidelity to the nation and unfailing adherence to the highest standards of professionalism, accountability, and excellent service to the people of Nigeria. Emir of Zazzau Suspends 4 District Heads, Lawmaker For Using Thugs On Sallah For allegedly organising thugs and those with the spiritual power to prevent any sharp metal from cutting their skin to disrupt public peace, some district heads and a member of the Kaduna State House of Assembly have been suspended by the Zazzau Emirate Council in Kaduna State.  The Emir of Zazzau, Mallam Ahmed Nuhu Bamalli, read the riot act on the district heads s after the Eid el fitr Sallah festivities in Zaria.    The Media and Publicity officer to the emirate, Abdullahi Aliyu Kwarbai, in a statement,said the action of the district heads violated a standing order against such acts and therefore; they were suspended with immediate effect. He listed those suspended as Uban Garin Zazzau and District Head of Soba, Alhaji Bashir Shehu Idris, Sarkin Dajin Zazzau and District Head of Kubau, Alhaji Shehu Umar Aliyu, Wakilin Birnin Zazzau and member Kaduna State House of Assembly representing Zaria constituency

CAN Dissociates Self From Kaduna Pastor Offering N310,000 Heaven Ticket The Christian Association of Nigeria in Kaduna State has distanced itself from one Pastor Ade Abrahaman offering to take his members to heaven if they pay a ticket fee of N310,000. Pastor Ade Abrahaman, whose video had gone viral on social media, was said to have his operational base in Kaduna and later moved the camp to Ado-Ekiti where he’s presently staying with his members preparing them for heaven. However, the state CAN Chairman, Reverend John Hayab, in a statement in Kaduna on Tuesday, denied neither knowing the said pastor nor the location as well as the name of the church in any part of the 23 local government areas of the state. 2023 Governorship: 179 clubs, associations present N50m cheque for Zulum’s form  … Reveal some donors gave N1,000 … Demand Governor’s re-election Over 179 clubs, associations and professional bodies with thousands of members have raised funds and presented a cheque with the value of N50m to Borno State Governor, Babagana Umara Zulum, to cover the cost of purchasing expression of interest and nomination forms under the platform of All Progressive Congress (APC). The groups had weeks ago began to gather contributions from members and made public an account number to which members channeled contributions of various sums.  Presenting the N50m cheque, spokesperson of the coalition, Alhaji Awaji Bukar, said the contributions, some of which came from as low as N1,000 by some of their members, aimed to convey their appreciation to Governor Zulum for his purposeful leadership to the good people of Borno State. Nigeria Is Broke, Nothing To Share - Rotimi Amaechi  Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi has stated that the elite are the problem of Nigeria. He advised citizens to vote the right people into leadership positions to fix the country’s challenges. Amaechi gave the counsel on Tuesday at the 2022 World Press Freedom Day celebrations in Uyo, the Akwa Ibom State capital. The former Rivers Governor also urged Nigerians to always hold politicians accountable. “The problem of the country is not the poor man in Akwa Ibom or Rivers, in the South East or in the North. It is you and I, the elite,” he said. NAN reports that Amaechi also dropped his take on the controversial issue of restructuring. “Why you are hearing restructuring, it is because the elites’ consensus on sharing (the resources) is disappearing. “It is because there is nothing to share again, we are broke. The problem facing this country is caused by the elites, including you”, he said.

Anambra State Fire Service Celebrates 2022 International Firefighters Day. Today marks another milestone in the lives of firefighters as Anambra State Fire Service joins the world to celebrate 2022 International Firefighters Day. The Anambra State Fire Service is celebrating the day with a road show which commenced from the headquarters of the agency at Agu Awka through Arroma Junction, Raegina Caeli Junction, UNIZIK tempsite, Kwata junction. Earlier in his address, the Fire Chief of the State, Engineer Martin Agbili, said the celebration gives them a chance to honour and thank every firefighter everywhere. According to him, it is also a time for the world to recognize and honour the sacrifices that firefighters make to ensure that their communities and environments are as safe as possible. The theme of this year's celebration is "Rise Above The Challenge". More photos below.

Fire Razes INEC Office In Zamfara State The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, reports its office in Kauran Namoda Local Government Area, Zamfara State, has been gutted by fire. The Resident Electoral Commissioner for Zamfara State, Professor Sa'idu Babura Ahmed, who gave the report, said the tragic incident occurred on Monday 2nd May 2022 around 11.00pm.  A statement signed by the National Commissioner and Chairman, Information and Voter Education Committee, Barrister Festus Okoye, said no casualties were reported and critical materials such as Permanent Voters' Cards (PVCs) and registration machines for the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise stored in fireproof cabinets were also saved.  It however noted that the building was extensively damaged including a number of fixed and movable office furniture destroyed in spite of the best efforts of the Zamfara State Fire Service and spirited efforts of good Nigerians to contain the inferno.
