 STATE HOUSE PRESS RELEASE  PRESIDENT TINUBU APPOINTS CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICERS OF TWO AGENCIES  President Bola Tinubu has approved the appointment of Dr. Innocent Bariate Barikor as the Director-General of the National Environmental Standards and Regulation Enforcement Agency (NESREA). The President has also approved the appointment of Prince Ebitimi Amgbare as the Managing Director/CEO of the Niger Delta River Basin Development Authority (NDRBDA). Dr. Barikor is an academic and politician. He was a member of the Rivers State House of Assembly from 2011 to 2015, while Prince Amgbare is a retired naval officer and former commissioner in Bayelsa State. The President expects that the new heads of these important agencies will discharge their duties with utmost fidelity to the nation and unfailing adherence to the highest standards of professionalism, accountability, and excellent service to the people of Nigeria.                   The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission,EFCC,on friday,November 11,2016 arraigned Air Vice Marshall Tony Omenyi {rtd} alongside his company,Huzee Nigerian Company,before Justice Nnamdi Dimgba of the Federal High Court sitting in Maitama,Abuja on a 3-count charge bordering on abuse of office and money laundering to the tune of N136.325.000.00 {one hundred and thirty six million,three hundred and twenty five thousand naira}.Omenyi is being charged for his alleged role in the diversion of funds meant for the purchase of arms by the military.The accused pleaded not guilty to the charges preferred against him.Upon his plea,counsel to EFCC,M.S Abubakar,expressed his readiness,subject to the convenience of the court to commenced trial immediately.''My Lord,in view of the plea of the defendant and in the light of the provisions of Section 273,300 {2} of the ACJA,I humbly apply to proceed immediately for trial'', Abubakar said.Omenyi's counsel,Wahab Ol

INDIA AND JAPAN SIGNS CIVIL NUCLEAR DEAL TODAY.{PHOTOS}.

                     Today friday India signed a nuclear deal with Japan during the annual bilateral summit held in Tokyo.Sealing the deal was the high point of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's ongoing visit to Japan.The PM issued a media statement describing it as a ''historic step''.The nuclear deal which will help India access Japan's nuclear market,had been under negotiation for six years and was firmed up during the 20 1 5 visit of Prime Minister Shinzo Abe to India when principles of the agreement were frozen.However,the final seal on the text had to wait legislative clearance from Japan.The deal is significant as it will help guarantee Japan's continued support to India's civil nuclear programme.Apart from the Russian reactors,the planned nuclear rectors with France and Us depend on Japaneses parts.That apart,GE,Westinghouse,and Areva,the companies planning reactors in India have important ownership stakes of Japanese companies Hitachi,Toshibi and M

                               Anambra State Governor,Willie Obiano,has visited his Delta State counterpart,Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa,to discuss issues of inter-state security,economy and road safety ahead of the yuletide.Governor Obiano said that the visit was in the bid to strengthen the mutual relationship existing between the two states.The meeting held on wednesday at the Delta State Government House in Asaba,south-south Nigeria.It had in attendance,the Federal Road Safety Corps {FRSC} Marshal,Boboye Oyeyemi,whose attention was called to the area of road safety,especially at the Bridge Head axis where traffic gridlock is always experienced.Addressing the press at the end off the closed door meeting,Governor Obiano said some of the issues discussed touch upon strengthening inter-state partnership.He listed the areas of foocus to include security,economy and supporting the FRSC to ensure free flow of traffic during the Christmas period.Dr. Okowa,on his part,expressed confidence that the coo

KANO COURT SENTENCED MAN TO 12 MONTHS FOR 5.7 MILLION FRAUD.{PHOTOS}.

                    The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission today friday,secured the conviction of one Abdulmajid Abdulkareem before Honourable Justice Farouq Lawal of Kano State High Court.The convict was sentenced to serve twelve months imprisonment with option of N30,000 {Thirty Thousand Naira Only} fine on the one count ammended charge of cheating.Abdulmajid was arraigned by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission on the 30th day of October ,20 1 4 on a three count charge of obtaining under false pretense,forgery and using as genuine.Upon his arraignment,the convict pleaded not guilty but during the cause of trial,the convict approached the commission with a plea bargain agreement and subsequently changed his plea in today's proceeding from not guilty to guilty.The convict's ordeal started when the commission received a petition that sometime in September,20 1 3 ,Abdulmajid sold a plot of land to the complainant,Sagir Bashir Nasambo with Certificate of Occupancy N
