 The Lagos Zonal Office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on  Friday, June 25, 2021, arraigned one Andrew Warri before Justice Sherifah Solebo of the Special Offences Court sitting in Ikeja, Lagos on a seven count charge bordering on stealing, obtaining by false pretence and issuance of dud cheques. Warri was arraigned alongside two companies: A.M. Projects Consultancy Limited and Ranez Medical Consultancy Limited. One of the counts reads: "Andrew Warri, A.M. Projects Consultancy Limited, sometime in May 2012 in Lagos, within the jurisdiction of this Honourable Court, with intent to defraud, fraudulently obtained the sum of N125,000,000 from Guaranty Trust Bank Plc under the guise that the proceeds of the Rural Health Care and Referral contract with Niger Delta Development Commission  (NDDC) will be domiciled in your account with Guaranty Trust Bank, the said pretense you knew, or ought to have known is false."   The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Kaduna Zonal office has re-arraigned one Alhaji Yushau Mohammed Ahmed before Justice Z.B. Abubakar of the Federal High Court sitting in Kaduna, Kaduna State on a one count charge bordering on failure to make full disclosure of all his assets in his asset declaration form. The defendant was first arraigned on 3rd December, 2020 and granted bail on 18th January, 2021 but was re-arraigned on Wednesday June 23, 2021 following the transfer of the former trial judge, Justice M. P Hommuk. Yushau’s problem began when a retired General wrote a petitioned the Commission, alleging that he defrauded him in an investment scheme. In the course of investigation, Yushau was invited to the Kaduna Zonal office of the EFCC and given asset declaration form to fill.   Court Convicts Four Cyber Criminals in Uyo The Uyo Zonal Office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission EFCC, on Thursday June 24, 2021, secured the conviction of four internet fraudsters before Justice Ijeoma Ojukwu of the Federal High Court sitting in Calabar, Cross River State. The convicts: Eneji Emmanuel, (a.k.a Karen Moana, Buccly Clunder, Mainer Chic, Karen Klunder) Adie Stephen Udie (alias Laura Vazquze), Nwandike Kelechi (a.k.a Bradley) and Victor Francis (alias Donald Walter), pleaded guilty to separate charges bordering on love scam and obtaining by false pretence. In view of their pleas, the prosecution counsel, Segun R. Akinrinlade urged the court to convict them in accordance with the plea bargain agreement among the parties. Lagos State Governor, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has mourned the passing of former President of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Chief Babatunde Olusola Benson (SAN). Chief Benson, a renowned lawyer and Asiwaju of Ikorodu, died on Thursday at age 88. Governor Sanwo-Olu in a condolence message signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Gboyega Akosile, on Friday said Benson’s demise was a big loss to Ikorodu, Lagos State and the legal profession in Nigeria. The governor described the deceased, who was born in Ikorodu to the famous Benson family on July 4, 1932, as an experienced and committed lawyer who used his position for the growth and development of Ikorodu kingdom, the legal profession and humanity through selfless service. The Lagos State Examinations Board has postponed the Y2021 Entrance Examination (Screening Test) into the State Model Colleges and Upgraded Junior Secondary Schools earlier scheduled to hold from Monday, June 28 to Saturday, July 3, 2021. A release signed by the Director, Lagos State Examinations Board, Mr. Supo Gbadegesin, stated that the examination has now been rescheduled to hold from Thursday, 15th July to Monday, 19th July, 2021.  2023: INEC Launches Online Portal For Voters To Register THE Independent National Electoral Commission INEC Nigeria on Thursday launched an online portal for eligible voters to register ahead of the 2023 general elections. This was disclosed by the Chairman of the Commission, Professor Mahmood Yakubu while addressing newsmen shortly after the launching. The Commissioner said the portal was created for intending registrants to commence the process online before the centres would reopen. Buhari appoints Emmanuel Jime as head of the Nigerian Shipping Council President Muhammadu Buhari approved the appointment of Emmanuel Lyambee Jime as Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Shippers Council. The appointment is for a renewable term of four years. Presidential spokesman Garba Shehu made the announcement in a statement Thursday night. Jime, who has a law degree, is expected to use his vast experience in the new position having distinguished himself in various public positions. The designated person was previously Managing Director of the Nigerian Export Processing Zone Authority (NEPZA). Jime was a member of the House of Representatives for two terms.
