 Outcries Over State Recognised Vigilantes In North-West   The security outfits established by various state governments, especially in the North-West, are being accused of indiscriminate arrests and killing of suspects, as well as innocent people without recourse to judicial processes, findings by Daily Trust Saturday revealed. But those charged with the responsibility of managing the outfits have debunked the claims of extrajudicial killings, though some admitted what they described as “overzealousness” by some of the operatives.     Kabiru Muhammad, the alleged mastermind of President Buhari's fake wedding to a second wife has been arraigned before a Kano Magistrate court. The suspect was arraigned by the DSS before the court on Tuesday January 14, on a two-count charge of defamation and injurious falsehood contrary to section 392 and 393 of the Kano Panel Code. Kabiru is currently facing three years imprisonment without fines if found guilty of the charges. It is also speculated that securing the jail sentence will serve as a warning to other social media users.

COURT RESERVES RULING ON VARIATION OF MAINA'S BAIL CONDITIONS,JANUARY 23.{PHOTOS}.

       The trial of Abdulrasheed Maina, former Chairman, Pension Reform Task Team, continued on Tuesday, January 14, 2020 with Justice Okon Abang of the Federal High Court Abuja, deferring ruling on the application for the variation of his bail conditions to January 23. Maina is being prosecuted by the EFCC on a 12-count charge, bordering on operating fictitious bank accounts, fraud and money laundering to th e tune of over N2billion, alongside his son, Faisal, who is facing a three-count charge of money laundering, corruption and lack of full disclosure of assets. Though he was granted bail on November 25, 2019, Maina has remained in Kuje Correctional Centre, Abuja due to his failure to meet up with his bail conditions.

      To complement the ongoing clean-up exercise by the State Government in Ikoyi and Victoria Island, the Lagos State Parks and Gardens Agency (LASPARK) has commenced the regeneration of degraded areas in the axis. A statement issued by the General Manager of the Agency, Mrs. Adetoun Popoola, affirmed that the recovered areas will be secured by LASPARK for greening and protected against future abuse. She disclosed that in pursuance of sustainable development, it is expedient that a greening structure is established which, according to her, will contribute greatly to the social and economic development of the State. Speaking on the LASPARK’s plan for the sanitisation exercise, Popoola disclosed that degraded areas within the axis have been mapped out while the Agency will deploy appropriate resources for their regeneration and beautification. “This project is going to set the pace for other areas that require regeneration across the State”, she declared.       A lady identified as Ijeoma was arrested on Friday the 10th of January by IMO state police command for using her menstrual period to prepare food for her boyfriend. She denied the fact but when interrogated she confessed to have used it for 7 months so that her boyfriend won’t leave her. Her boyfriend’s (Mr. Kingsley) statement “I met Ijeoma 3 years ago. She was perfect but suddenly she started cheating on me and she engages in prostitution. Sometimes she would lie to me that she is traveling to her village but ends up in a Hotel with a man. Anambra State Ministry of Women Affairs, during the weekend, Saturday 11/1/2020, through the assistant of spirited individuals rescued a heavily pregnant mentally challenged woman at Onitsha, who few hours after her rescue gave birth to a bouncing baby boy. The pregnant woman was rescued when the Anambra State Commissioner for Women and Children Affairs, Lady Ndidi Mezue, received a distress call from a concern citizen who spotted the woman. On receiving the call, the Honorable Commissioner, swung into action and immediately seek the assistance of the Women Development Officer (WDO)Of Onitsha North local government area who with a nurse rushed the woman to Onitsha General Hospital, where she was delivered of a bouncing baby boy.       Lagos State Government will not be taking definitive action against illegal operations of commercial motorcycles and tricycles on restricted routes across the State, it was learnt on Monday. The revelation followed a four-hour Security Council meeting chaired by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and attended by all commanders of security agencies in the State. Briefing State House reporters after the meeting, Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr. Gbenga Omotoso, said the Government’s delayed action against restriction of motorcycles and tricycles was informed by the need to achieve a generally acceptable solution to the menace. Omotoso disclosed that relevant parties and stakeholders had reached out to the Government with suggestions and representation that could be adopted to proffer a win-win solution on the matter.       The EFCC Gombe Zonal Office on January 13, 2020, secured the conviction of one Ibrahim Aku before Justice Nathan Musa of the Adamawa State High Court. Aku, an Accountant at EYN Church of Christ (Ekilisiyar Yen Uwa Nigeria), EYN, Church of Brethren in Nigeria (CBN) in the state was charged with six counts bordering on forgery and obtaining money by f alse pretence. He was investigated and prosecuted following a petition by the church through Rev. (Dr). Daniel Mbaya an Secretary General of the Church alleging that Aku defrauded the church of N15.5million between 2016 and 2018. Investigations by the EFCC, revealed that the money was generated by the church members by offerings, donations and tithe.

EFCC ARRESTS EIGHT SUSPECTED INTERNET FRAUDSTERS IN IBADAN.{PHOTOS}.#PRESS RELEASE.

      The Ibadan Zonal Office of the EFCC, over the weekend, arrested eight suspected internet fraudsters in Ibadan, Oyo State capital. The suspects, whose ages range between 17 and 30 were apprehended at different locations across the ancient city. They are Abdulrahman Qozeem, Umoru Ibrahim, Umoru Abdulahi Gregory, Famous Ose Itahma, Umoru Shaibu Pedro, Durrele Oyeniyi, Umoru Evidence and Judge Okoye. Their arrest was sequ el to series of intelligence received by the commission concerning their alleged involvement in internet-related crimes. Items recovered from them include six exotic cars, various brands of phones, laptops, international passports and several documents suspected to contain false pretences. They will be charged to court as soon as investigations are concluded.
