 EFCC Taskforce Arrests 34 Suspected Currency Speculators in Abuja Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, attached to the Taskforce on Currency mutilation, Dollarization of the Economy and Forex Malpractice, have arrested 34 suspected currency speculators  for alleged foreign exchange fraud. They were arrested on Friday, April 26, 2024 in a sting operation following credible intelligence about illegal sales of dollars at the Wuse Zone 4 area of the Federal Capital Territory Abuja.   The suspects are :Usman Mohammed, Abdullahi Nasir, Abubakar Saleh, Mohammed Kabir Ibrahim, Abubakar Ghadafi, Muktar Usman, Umar Abubakar Abba, Yakubu Sani, Aminu Abubakar, Muhammed Suleman Abara, Yusuf Tahir, Usman Lawal, Usman Lawal, Usman Umar, Amina Garba Rola, Muhammed Aliyu, Murtala Haruna, Sani Mohammed, Umar Farouk, Muhammed Sagiuru, Aminu Salisu, Lawal Bello, Munzali Hashim, Jamilu Suleiman, Mustapha Umar, Mubarak Tanimu, Adamu Garba, Mohammed Usman, Bello Musa, Saleh Moha

                                      The Lagos state Government,assures on security,Medical Arrangement for participants.The Government also affirmed its readiness to host over 20,000 local and International Marathoners in the forth coming Access Lagos City Marathoners race scheduled to come up tommorow,February 6th,2016.According to the State's commissioner for Information and Strategy,Mr. Steve Ayorinde,all logistics have been put in place and Lagos is ready to host the event as well as replicate an international version of the event in the state come Saturday.He confirmed that several renowed marathoners from Kenya,Ethiopia,Uganda and other countries are already in town for the event,while local and other athletes are fully prepared to participate in the event.He said rge State Government has put in place water tight security measures to protect athletes and other participants in the international event adding that a team of motorized and motorbike escorts have been provided to

87 MINE WORKERS RESCUED,3 MISSING,AFTER A GOLD MINE COLLAPSED TODAY IN SOUTH AFRICA.

                      According to Reuters,Almost 90 miners were rescued and three other workers were missing after a cave in a gold mine in the northeast of South Africa today friday,mine owner Vantage Goldfields said.The collapse at the mine's main entrance trapped 87 workers underground,all of whom were rescued,the small gold producer said in a statement,but three others who had been working on the surface at the time could not be accounted for.No fatalities were reported.Work at the mine was suspended pending investigation on what caused the collapse,Vantage said.Mike Begg told reporters at the mine near the town of Barberton in Mpumalanga province,about 360 km {225 miles} east of Jahannesburg that ''The three missing are office workers,not miners.We are not going to rest until we find them''. Reporters were not allowed near the site where the cave-in occurred,and a crowd stood outside the perimeter fence awaiting word on the results of rescue attempts.Vantage G

MASSOB DEMANDS FOR A REFERENDUM AND THREATENS TO MAKE NIGERIA,''UNGOVERNABLE''.

                      According to the Punch news paper,the Movement for the Actualisation of the Sovereign State of Biafra yesterday thursday threatened to make Nigeria ungovernable if the Federal Government failed to conduct a referendum in the South East.MASSOB and other pro-Biafra groups,including the Indigenous People of Biafra,are demanding a referendum in the region to enable the people decide,through voting whether they wish to secede,or remain in Nigeria.The Biafra activists claim that majority of people in the region would vote in favour of a separation from Nigeria.In a statement which was made available to pressmen in Enugu,MASSOB said it had concluded plans,with other pro-Biafra groups,to disrupt governance in the country,if the Federal Government would not conduct the referendum.The National Director Information,MASSOB,Samuel Edeson,who signed the statement,said the agitators would fight the Federal Government with everthing at their disposal.He said the group intended to

GOVERNOR AMBODE,SWORN IN A NEW KAI BOSS ON WEDNESDAY.

               Lagos State Government,Mr Akinwumi Ambode ,has approved the appointment of Mr Amusat Bola Jimoh as the new KAI Marshal General of Lagos State.Jimoh,a retired Chief Suoerintendent of Police,was on wednesday sworn in as the Marshal General by the State Commissioner for the Environment,Dr. Babatunde Adejare on behalf of the Governor.Before his appointment,Jimoh had served as the Divitional Police officer {DPO} Alausa and Anthony Police stations as well as in various capacities in the Nigeria Police Force before he retired from the force.The new KAI Marshal has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Peace and Conflict Resolution from National Open University of Nigeria and an advanced Diploma Certtificate in Security from University of Lagos.Jimoh,who is the fourth KAI Marshal General,succeeds Captain Danjuma Maigari {Rtd}.Also appointed are three Assistant KAI Marshl General,Mr. Dapo Bode Thomas for Lagos Central Senatorial District; Mr. Jacob Asogba,for East Senatorial District,w

LAGOS STATE GOVT,BANS CARS FROM PARKING ON OPEBI TO ALLEN ROUND ABOUT IN IKEJA,FROM MONDAY.

                                     The Lagos State Government has banned street parking on both sides of the road from Opebi to Allen round about in Ikeja with effect from monday,8th of February 2016.A release by the State Commissioner for transport,Dr. Dayo Mobereola,directed business premises and visitors to the area to endeavour to park their vehicles within their premises or on side streets along the stretch.It warned that any violation of the order will be appropriately charged and sanctioned by the the appropriate Law enforcement agency saddled with the responsibility of ensuring compliance with this directive.The release stated further that in line with the provisions of the Lagos State Traffic Law 2012 all vehicles,including tricycles and Okada,must also abide by the restriction order.It however implored business premises in the area to ensure compliance so as to avoid the closure of their premises or sanction against their customers.The release expressed regrets for any inco
