 EFCC Taskforce Arrests 34 Suspected Currency Speculators in Abuja Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, attached to the Taskforce on Currency mutilation, Dollarization of the Economy and Forex Malpractice, have arrested 34 suspected currency speculators  for alleged foreign exchange fraud. They were arrested on Friday, April 26, 2024 in a sting operation following credible intelligence about illegal sales of dollars at the Wuse Zone 4 area of the Federal Capital Territory Abuja.   The suspects are :Usman Mohammed, Abdullahi Nasir, Abubakar Saleh, Mohammed Kabir Ibrahim, Abubakar Ghadafi, Muktar Usman, Umar Abubakar Abba, Yakubu Sani, Aminu Abubakar, Muhammed Suleman Abara, Yusuf Tahir, Usman Lawal, Usman Lawal, Usman Umar, Amina Garba Rola, Muhammed Aliyu, Murtala Haruna, Sani Mohammed, Umar Farouk, Muhammed Sagiuru, Aminu Salisu, Lawal Bello, Munzali Hashim, Jamilu Suleiman, Mustapha Umar, Mubarak Tanimu, Adamu Garba, Mohammed Usman, Bello Musa, Saleh Moha

200 DAYS: LAGOS OPENS BID FOR FOURTH MAINLAND BRIDGE,UNVEILS OTHER PROJECTS.#PRESS RELEASE.

     Lagos State Government on Sunday gave account of the progress recorded in the last 200 days of the Babajide Sanwo-Olu administration. The Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr. Gbenga Omotoso, during an interactive session with journalists said the State Government will be hosting a live ceremony on Wednesday, to open the bids from prospective firms that expressed interests in the construction of the Fourth Mainland Bridge. Omotoso added that “the Government will be announcing the bids at the ceremony, which will officially set process in motion to realise the project.” He added that local and international construction giants expressed interest in the construction of the 37-Kilometre-long fourth Mainland bridge. The Commissioner said the Sanwo-Olu administration had beamed a special focus on infrastructure, traffic management and transportation, with to reduce gridlocks.        The EFCC on Friday December 13, 2019 secured the convictions of nine internet fraudsters and a Banker before Justice Emeka Nwite of the Federal high Court sitting in Warri, Delta State. They were arraigned separately for offences bordering on impersonation, intent to defraud and failure to disclose suspicious transactions. Those convicted are Onomua Victor (a.k.a John Williamson), Ovie Evans ( a.k.a Mille r John ), Ikpasa Efe ( Julius Mark ), Abuwa Mavis, Akegor Godbless Omamuyovwi ( a.k.a Sherri Hunt ), Eyoyibo Joseph ( a.k.a Norman Greg), Akpighoro Malvelt (a.k.a Michel Reymond), Anthony Omonomo (a.k.a John ), Edofeuwose Maya and Peter Atolo.More photos below.

       The EFCC, on Saturday, December 14, 2019, marked properties belonging to a former Abia State governor, Orji Uzor Kalu. The marking is to ensure that the properties are not dissipated, following the December 5, 2019 order of Justice Muhammed Idris sitting at the Federal High Court in Ikoyi, Lagos that Kalu’s company, Slok Nigeria Limited, be wound up and all assets forfeited to the Federal Government. Ka lu, who is the Senator representing Abia North in the National Assembly, had been arraigned alongside his company, Slok Nigeria Limited and Udeh Udeogu, his Director of Finance and Accounts at the. Abia State Government House, over an amended 39-count charge bordering on conspiring and diverting the sum of N7.65bn from the coffers of the state.More photos below.

     In order to stem the tide of cultism and other nefarious activities in the State, the Command Special Anti Cult Unit in conjunction with Puff-Adder/Kpochakpu operatives had during the week under review raided various hideouts and blackspots where cultists are suspected to be hibernating in various locations within the State as follows, 2. On the 08/12/19 at Ogidi /Nkpor axis, 15 suspected cultists arrested. On the 09 /12 /19 at Awka /Amansea axis, 10 suspected cultists arrested. 0n the 10/12 /19 at Onitsha /Nkpor axis, 07 suspected cultists arrested. On the 11 /12 /19 at Oba/Nnewi axis , 22 suspected cultists arrested. On the 12/12 /19, at Nsugbe/Nkwelle-ezunaka axis , 10 suspected cultists arrested. On the 13 /12 /19, at Ogbunike/Abagana axis , 18 suspected cultists arrested. 3. From all the raids carried out, a total of 82 suspects were arrested out of which 25 suspects were screened out, 15 suspects were charged to court, while 42 suspects are undergoing investigation. 4

      Actress Angela Okorie has described the recent violent attack on her as an assassination attempt. Angela was attacked by gunmen in the early hours of Saturday December 14th. It was widely believed that the attack was carried out by suspected armed robbers. However, in a post she shared on Sunday morning, Angela described the attack as an assassination attempt. According to her, 10 bullets were removed from her head. She wrote....       Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu has said that the present administration is making deliberate efforts to support the growth of the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, MSMEs, with the promulgation of policies that would ensure the sector continues to prosper. The Governor, who stated this while addressing participants at the opening ceremony of the 4th edition of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) Exclusive Fair on Thursday in Lagos, noted that the State’s Procurement Law was recently reviewed to encourage patronage of locally made products by government agencies.
