 EFCC Taskforce Arrests 34 Suspected Currency Speculators in Abuja Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, attached to the Taskforce on Currency mutilation, Dollarization of the Economy and Forex Malpractice, have arrested 34 suspected currency speculators  for alleged foreign exchange fraud. They were arrested on Friday, April 26, 2024 in a sting operation following credible intelligence about illegal sales of dollars at the Wuse Zone 4 area of the Federal Capital Territory Abuja.   The suspects are :Usman Mohammed, Abdullahi Nasir, Abubakar Saleh, Mohammed Kabir Ibrahim, Abubakar Ghadafi, Muktar Usman, Umar Abubakar Abba, Yakubu Sani, Aminu Abubakar, Muhammed Suleman Abara, Yusuf Tahir, Usman Lawal, Usman Lawal, Usman Umar, Amina Garba Rola, Muhammed Aliyu, Murtala Haruna, Sani Mohammed, Umar Farouk, Muhammed Sagiuru, Aminu Salisu, Lawal Bello, Munzali Hashim, Jamilu Suleiman, Mustapha Umar, Mubarak Tanimu, Adamu Garba, Mohammed Usman, Bello Musa, Saleh Moha

       The Presidency dismisses the wicked and unfounded conclusion by a media house that President Muhammadu Buhari is sympathetic to the activities of violent herdsmen, and has been indifferent to their atrocities. We reject The Punch newspaper's September 4th, 2018, editorial which alleged that President Buhari had sympathy for criminality perpetuated by a misguided group. The editorial was not only disrespectful of the President and his office, but was also reckless, thoughtless, inflammatory and totally irresponsible. It is steadily becoming clear from the views, news and opinions of this newspaper that it will explore every opportunity and twist every fact to declare every Nigerian and ECOWAS member with Fulani blood a terrorists, who must be stripped of their rights as citizens, or worse subjected to ethnic cleansing.       Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has condoled with the Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike over the death of the Attorney General of Rivers State, Honourable Emmanuel Aguma (SAN ). Speaking during a condolence visit at the Government House Port Harcourt on Wednesday, Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar said the passage of Aguma was shocking. He said: "The loss of the Attorney-General of Rivers State was a shocking news to us. This is because of our relationship with the state. " He prayed God to grant the state the fortitude to bear the painful loss as the services of the Late Attorney-General of Rivers State would be missed by the country.       The Acting Executive Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Ibrahim Magu, has described the resistance against the ongoing anti-graft war by the corrupt elements in the country as  frightening. He said though no one would expect the fight against corruption to be smooth, the resistance had assumed frightening dimensions with political motives inputed into most of the activities of the Commission, especially as the next general election approaches.         Ebonyi - A young man has been arrested by officers and men of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps for vandalizing all the fancy lights in Abacha round about, Gunning Road, Abakaliki. The man revealed that he was sent by the 'Holy Spirit ' According to an eye witness, the man came to the vicinity with Monday hammer and other instruments, climbed the artificial water fall and commenced the destruction. Before he started, he proclaimed that evil concoctions and charms was buried in the round about before the fancy lights were installed, hence, Abakpa traders and in deed Abakaliki people were held to a ransome by the evil forces in the state from progressing and even asking for their rights. DOMESTIC VIOLENCE: LAGOS RECORDS INCREASE IN REPORTED CASES.#PRESS RELEASE.

      Lagos State Government has applauded the increased awareness that has led to a rise in the report of sexual and domestic abuse cases, saying that residents are now better informed of the various channels made available by the government to report cases of domestic violence to appropriate authorities. The State Commissioner for Justice and Attorney-General, Mr. Adeniji Kazeem, who stated this at a news conference organised by the State Government to commemorate the Domestic and Sexual Violence Awareness Month, disclosed that recent records show a total departure from the apathy initially harboured by survivors of domestic abuse. According to the Commissioner, the statistics made available by the State Domestic and Sexual Violence Response Team reveals that no fewer than 3,089 cases of sexual and domestic violence were reported in the past eight months.
