EFCC TASKFORCE ARRESTS 34 SUSPECTED CURRENCY SPECULATORS IN ABUJA. (PHOTOS). #PRESS RELEASE.

 EFCC Taskforce Arrests 34 Suspected Currency Speculators in Abuja Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, attached to the Taskforce on Currency mutilation, Dollarization of the Economy and Forex Malpractice, have arrested 34 suspected currency speculators  for alleged foreign exchange fraud. They were arrested on Friday, April 26, 2024 in a sting operation following credible intelligence about illegal sales of dollars at the Wuse Zone 4 area of the Federal Capital Territory Abuja.   The suspects are :Usman Mohammed, Abdullahi Nasir, Abubakar Saleh, Mohammed Kabir Ibrahim, Abubakar Ghadafi, Muktar Usman, Umar Abubakar Abba, Yakubu Sani, Aminu Abubakar, Muhammed Suleman Abara, Yusuf Tahir, Usman Lawal, Usman Lawal, Usman Umar, Amina Garba Rola, Muhammed Aliyu, Murtala Haruna, Sani Mohammed, Umar Farouk, Muhammed Sagiuru, Aminu Salisu, Lawal Bello, Munzali Hashim, Jamilu Suleiman, Mustapha Umar, Mubarak Tanimu, Adamu Garba, Mohammed Usman, Bello Musa, Saleh Moha

GHANAIAN FOOTBALLER CHRISTIAN ATSU, WHO DIED AFTER AN EARTHQUAKE HIT TURKEY, HAS BEEN BURIED TODAY. (PHOTOS).#RIP.

Ghanaian footballer Christian Atsu, who died after an earthquake hit Turkey, has been buried today.  The state-assisted funeral for the former Hatayspor club footballer is taking place in Accra, Ghana.  Atsu was found dead after the earthquake caused the collapse of his apartment in southern Turkey. He will be sorely missed by many, including children at a Ghanaian orphanage that he frequently provided money, food and clothing to.  “He came to drill a borehole for us, and help us with filters so it can be drinkable”, said Becky Foundation Director, Seth Asiedu.  Atsu made the kids at the Becky Foundation charity children’s home so happy that they used to call him “father”.  The Director added that they have organised counselling sessions for the kids “to try and overcome the pain."Thousands of mourners and well-wishers from Ghana and abroad file to the body to pay their last respects. Lagos Police Arrest 53-Year-Old Woman With Laminated INEC Materials The Lagos State Police Command has arrested a 53-year-old woman, who was allegedly found with laminated electoral materials. The spokesperson of the command, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed this to newsmen on Friday, March 17, 2023. The PPRO said that the suspect was arrested on Thursday at about 4.00 p.m. at Candos Road, Baruwa in Iyana-Ipaja area of Lagos. Hundeyin said that the suspect was arrested inside a business centre where she was making the photocopies. "She was arrested with 550 different INEC materials. The laptop she used in printing the materials has been recovered and she couldn’t give a good account of how she came in possession of the materials. The case has been transferred to State CID Yaba for further investigation." he said

RUSSIAN PRESIDENT UNDER FIRE  The International Criminal Court (ICC) has issued an arrest warrant for Russian President Vladimir Putin. The court alleges he is responsible for war crimes, including the unlawful deportation of children from Ukraine to Russia. It says the crimes were committed in Ukraine at least from 24 February 2022 - when Russia launched its full-scale invasion. Moscow has denied allegations of war crimes during the invasion. The ICC has charged Mr Putin with being involved in the deportation of children, and says it has reasonable grounds to believe he committed the acts directly, as well as working with others. The court also said the Russian leader failed to exercise his rights to stop others who deported children. Russia's commissioner for children's rights, Maria Lvova-Belova, is also wanted by the ICC. Many people including passers-by were said to be caught up in the melee on Thursday in Kaduna as many people sustained varying degree of injuries in the process. EFCC Arrests Alleged Serial Canadian Visa Scammer in Abuja The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, today, March 17, 2023 arrested one Enock Ifeoluw Ogungbamigbe, an alleged serial visa scammer who specialize in duping Nigerians desperate to migrate to Canada either to work or further their education, through fake visa and job offers. The 32-year old who owns a Garden in Mpape, a suburb of Abuja, was picked up at Transcorp Hotel, Abuja by operatives of the Commission, when he responded to an appointment to procure a visa for an applicant intending to migrate to Canada. Unknown to him, that it was a bait. His arrest followed a petition by a victim who lost N5million to the suspect as processing fees for Visa to Canada. The suspect had also promised the victim a job upon arrival in Canada. But he only delivered fake visas to the victims and all efforts to recover the money were futile. The suspect would be charged to court as soon as the investigation is concluded.

Fake Kaduna Director Convicted for Forgery The Kaduna Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC,  has secured the conviction of one Yusuf Ahmed Lawal before Justice A.A Bello of the Kaduna State High Court on a two count charge bordering on forgery.  The convict presented a forged letter introducing himself as a Director of the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development in Kaduna State to take a suspect under investigation by the Commission on bail. The letter upon investigation, was discovered to have been forged. One of the charges reads, “that you, Yusuf Ahmed Lawal ( M) sometime in November, 2022 at Kaduna within the jurisdiction of this Honourable Court, with intent to defraud forged a certain document, to wit a letter headed letter captioned; MINISTRY OF HOUSING AND URBAN DEVELOPMENT,  and dated 24th November, 2022 and signed by Muhammad Tajuddeen, with the intent that the said document be used to introduce you to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commiss
