 AU urges de-escalation as fighting displaces over 180,000 in South Sudan’s Jonglei state The Chairperson of the African Union Commission called for immediate de-escalation and strict adherence to South Sudan’s 2018 peace agreement, as renewed fighting in Jonglei State displaced more than 180,000 people and raised fears of further civilian harm. In a statement, African Union Commission Chairperson Mahmoud Ali Youssouf said he was deeply concerned by the deteriorating security situation in parts of the country, particularly Jonglei, where escalating violence and inflammatory rhetoric have put civilians—including women and children—at heightened risk. South Sudanese authorities estimate the number of displaced in Jonglei at more than 180,000, the United Nations humanitarian agency OCHA said last week. FIRE SERVICE SUCCESSFULLY CURTAILED FIRE IN EFCC YESTERDAY.#PRESS RELEASE.

    Men of the Federal Fire Service, FFS, Wuse Zonal office today, Monday, 19th November, 2018 successfully subdued inferno that almost razed down the Wuse 2 Zonal office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC. The fire fighters led by the Sector Commander, Melone Onyekachi, arrived the Wuse 2 office of the Commission when the Service was alerted of the Fire by the Incident Duty Officer of the Commission, Kayode Oyet unde at 1910 hours. The fire started at the former newsroom which now serves as storage for ICT equipments that were retrieved from the Commission former offices scattered across the Capital City. The former newsroom is domiciled in the two Storey Costa Hall which was commissioned by Dr. Antonio Maria Costa on 13th November 2007. The building currently houses the Data Centre and the Combined Inter Agency Task Force. EFCC ARRAIGNS KANO GOV. CANDIDATE,1 OTHER FOR ALLEGED $1.3M FRAUD.{PHOTOS}.

            The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on November 19, 2018 arraigned Abdulsalam Saleh Abdulkareem, a governorship candidate of the Green Party of Nigeria, GPN, and Ebere Nzekwe, before Justice Lewis Allagoa of the Federal High Court, Kano on a nine-count charge of criminal conspiracy and obtaining money by false pretence to the tune of $1,320,000 (One Million, Three Hundred and Twenty Thousand Do llars) only. The petitioner alleged that sometimes in 2014, the defendants connived to fraudulently obtained the said sum from him in the belief that it would be used for business investment which eventually turned out to be false. Abdulsalam also allegedly met with his Personal Assistant, one Muhannat in a hotel in Republic of Kuwait for a talk on the said dealings.
