 EFCC Taskforce Arrests 34 Suspected Currency Speculators in Abuja Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, attached to the Taskforce on Currency mutilation, Dollarization of the Economy and Forex Malpractice, have arrested 34 suspected currency speculators  for alleged foreign exchange fraud. They were arrested on Friday, April 26, 2024 in a sting operation following credible intelligence about illegal sales of dollars at the Wuse Zone 4 area of the Federal Capital Territory Abuja.   The suspects are :Usman Mohammed, Abdullahi Nasir, Abubakar Saleh, Mohammed Kabir Ibrahim, Abubakar Ghadafi, Muktar Usman, Umar Abubakar Abba, Yakubu Sani, Aminu Abubakar, Muhammed Suleman Abara, Yusuf Tahir, Usman Lawal, Usman Lawal, Usman Umar, Amina Garba Rola, Muhammed Aliyu, Murtala Haruna, Sani Mohammed, Umar Farouk, Muhammed Sagiuru, Aminu Salisu, Lawal Bello, Munzali Hashim, Jamilu Suleiman, Mustapha Umar, Mubarak Tanimu, Adamu Garba, Mohammed Usman, Bello Musa, Saleh Moha

GUNMEN ABDUCTED FOUR TRAVELLERS IN ANAMBRA TODAY.(PHOTO).

Gunmen Abduct Four Travellers in Anambra No fewer than four travellers were abducted by suspected gunmen in Anambra State on Sunday. The suspects burnt their Hilux vehicle and made away with a SUV belonging to their victims. The incident happened around 3pm on Sunday at Nise market in Awka South local government area, few kilometers away from the Governor’s lodge at Amawbia. The Nation gathered the suspects stopped at the arena, robbed some persons before making away with the SUV. The operation by the hoodlums, according to a source, lasted for about 30mins.   When contacted, Anambra Relations Officer, Ikenga Tochukwu, confirmed the incident.   He said the suspects were being trailed by security operatives, who had been deployed by Commissioner of Police, Echeng Echeng. Tochukwu said security operatives had cordoned off the area to protect the residents, while further investigation continued. Why INEC should disqualify Peter Obi – Bashir Ahmad Bashir Ahmad, a former aide to President Muhammadu Buhari, has provided another reason the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, should disqualify Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, LP. Recall that the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, had yesterday made a similar call, citing alleged illegal substitution of running mate. The PDP asked the court to sack Obi and the All Progressives Congress, APC candidate, for using place-holders and later announcing fresh running mates. And similarly, Ahmad pointed out that Obi is not supposed to run for the presidency under the Labour Party, which he just joined in May 2022. Recall that prior to the presidential primaries of the PDP, Peter dumped the main opposition party and joined the LP where he contested for the primary election and won. 8 DIED AFTER A PLANE CRASHED IN NORTHERN GREECE.(PHOTOS).

The munitions had been bought by the Bangladeshi Defense Ministry.  Officials say all eight Ukrainian crew members died when the aircraft crashed Saturday night near the city of Kavala.  The pilot asked Greek aviation authorities for permission for an emergency landing, but Greece lost contact with the plane soon after the request.  Initial reports of the crash said the plane’s destination was Jordan, but Reuters reports that the plane was headed to Jordan’s Queen Alia international airport only to refuel.  Witnesses said the plane was engulfed in flames before it crashed.  People who live near the crash site have been advised to stay home and to keep their doors and windows shut.  An official said firefighters “felt their lips burning.”  "We

Fake Vehicle Plate Number Production Factory Discovered In Anambra The Anambra State gov­ernment has discov­ered a factory at Nne­wi where fake vehicle plate numbers are allegedly being manufactured and sold to unsuspecting Ndi-Anambra, ANAMBRA PEOPLE reports. It has described the devel­opment as inimical to proper licensing by the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) and the state government. Investigations revealed that the said fake vehicle plate number production plant had been in existence over the years, dishing out plate numbers not captured in the government’s database and this trend had culminated into government losing huge sums of money to the cartels. The Commissioner for Health, Professor Akin Abayomi, explained that the affected premises were sealed for various offences including the display of drugs for sale in unregistered and unlicensed shops; inappropriate storage conditions of drugs; handling and dispensing drugs by unskilled persons and the sales of drugs outside the approved scope.
