 STATE HOUSE PRESS RELEASE  PRESIDENT TINUBU APPOINTS CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICERS OF TWO AGENCIES  President Bola Tinubu has approved the appointment of Dr. Innocent Bariate Barikor as the Director-General of the National Environmental Standards and Regulation Enforcement Agency (NESREA). The President has also approved the appointment of Prince Ebitimi Amgbare as the Managing Director/CEO of the Niger Delta River Basin Development Authority (NDRBDA). Dr. Barikor is an academic and politician. He was a member of the Rivers State House of Assembly from 2011 to 2015, while Prince Amgbare is a retired naval officer and former commissioner in Bayelsa State. The President expects that the new heads of these important agencies will discharge their duties with utmost fidelity to the nation and unfailing adherence to the highest standards of professionalism, accountability, and excellent service to the people of Nigeria. AUTHOR OF 'EZE GOES TO SCHOOL' & FOUNDING MD OF NAN ''CHIEF ONUORA NZEKWU' DIES AT THE AGE OF 89.{PHOTOS}

                  The author of ''Eze Goes To School'',a popular novel which was featured in the early 90s,Chief Onuora Nzekwu,has died at the age of 89,the family confirmed yesterday Saturday.Late Onuora Nzekwu ,also the founding General Manager of News Agency of Nigeria {NAN},died on Friday in his home in Onitsha,Anambra,where he had been living in retirement,a family member,Mr Louis Chuke said.Nzekwu joined the Federal Civil Service as an editorial assistant at the Nigeria Magazine Division of the Federal Ministry of Information.He worked as an editorial assistant from 1956 to 1958 when took over the position of editor-in-chief of the magazine.In 1966 when the Nigerian civil war broke out,he transferred his services to the Eastern Nigeria Public Service and returned to the federal service at the end of the crisis in 1970.He served as General Manager of NAN from 1979 to 1985.Nzekwu wrote Troubled Dust,a novel that recounts the experience of the civil war.May his soul

                              A fatal road accident which occurred in Orifite of Ekwusigo Local Government Area yesterday night has claimed the lives of 2 innocent children and some other adults.Details of the incident are sketchy as at press time but according to sources,the victims involved seems to be a man,his wife and two children.But the Man has been identified as Ikponka a.k.a Otuonu.So touching.May their souls rest in peace Amen.More photos below.

                  The Senator representing Osun West,Isiaka Adeleke,is dead.Mr Adeleke,aged 62,died today sunday morning at a hospital in Osogbo,the Osun State capital,hours after he engaged in a political meeting which terminated late Saturday.Until his death,Mr Adeleke Chaired the Senate committee on capital market.He was in the Senate for the second time,having first represented Osun West between 2007 and 2011 on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party.He could not return to the Senate in 2011,after he was defeated by Mudashiru Hussein of the defunct Action Congress of Nigeria.But in 2014,after a failed governorship bid,he defected to the All Progressives Congress which sponsored him to contest the 2015 Osun West senatorial election which he won to earn a second time in the Senate.Mr Adeleke became the first elected Governor of Odun State in 1991 on the platform of the Social Democratic Party.He sponsored a bill to protect whostleblowers and security informants.May his soul res

                                Veteran Nollywood actor,Olumide Bakare,has passed on after a failed battle with a heart and lung disease.His personal assistant,who said he died in the early hours of Saturday on his way to the hospital,announced his death.Mr Bakare has been sick for over a year and reports say aside from suffering low blood flow into the heart.there were also indications of a lung-related disease.He suffered cardiac arrest earlier in the year and was rushed to the emergency unit of University College Hospital Where he was placed in intensive care.Mufu Onifade,former president of the National Association of Nigerian Theatre Arts Practitioners {NANTAP},has confirmed his death in a statement.''He had a successful surgery and after the surgery,he talked to people and told them he was fine.But two hours later,he passed on.It is very painful because I had actually been wishing him a quick recovery'',he said.When the news of his ill health broke in 2014,the act

NIGERIAN TROOPS CLEARS BURIED IMPROVISED EXPLOSIVE DEVICES ALONG BANKI JUNCTION-PULKA ROAD.{PHOTOS}.

                                             The Chief of Administration {Army},Major General IM Alkali and the Acting General Officer Commanding 7 Division Nigerian Army,Brigadier General VO Ezugwu's convoy encountered and cleared 4 Improvised Explosive Devices {IEDs} buried by suspected elements of Boko Haram terrorists along their way from Bama to Gwoza at about 10.ooam on Saturday 22nd April 2017.They encountered the 4 clustered IEDs buried at a crossing point along Banki Junction and Pulka road,about 6 kilometres to Firgi in Borno State.The Explosive Ordinance Device team however,were able to quickly detect the deadly IEDs and safely extracted and detonated them.The two senior officers were on operational visit to troops of 26 Task Force Brigade deployed for Operation LAFIYA DOLE currently engaged in Operation DEEP PUNCH.The team among other places visited 121 Task Force Battalion Pulka.
