OSUN: ADELEKE, ASSEMBLY LOSE AS COURT AFFIRMS JUSTICE OJI AS CHIEF JUDGE. (PHOTO).

 Osun: Adeleke, Assembly lose as court affirms Justice Ojo as Chief Judge The National Industrial Court sitting in Ibadan has affirmed Justice Adepele Ojo as the Chief Judge of Osun State. The decision was contained in a judgment delivered by Justice Peters in a suit numbered NICN/IB/62/2023, on Wednesday in Ibadan. The court granted all the reliefs sought by the Osun Chief Judge against the Osun State Government and Osun State House of Assembly, including an order of perpetual injunction restraining both the executive and legislative arms of government from removing her as the number one judicial officer in the state. Matters came to a head between the Osun State Government and Justice Ojo in 2023 when the Osun Assembly passed a motion suspending her as Chief Judge of the state.         Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Wednesday alleged that some “overzealous elements” in the All Progressive Congress (APC) were planning to disrupt the party’s national convention holding on Saturday in Abuja. President Muhammadu Buhari on Wednesday in Kano reaffirmed that prison reforms and decongestion will be pursued with greater vigor by his administration. Speaking at a ceremony in Kurmawa Central Prison Kano, at which 500 inmates were either pardoned or set free upon the payment of fines by the State Governor, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, President Buhari lamented that some of the freed inmates were young and charged prison authorities to make every effort to make better citizens of prisoners. President Buhari pledged that prisons reforms and decongestion would continue to receive prompt attention from his administration. The President stressed the need for prisoners to receive proper care, support and rehabilitation to make them better citizens after serving their prisons terms. ``I am pleased with this visit and I have learnt a bit more about the conditions of the prisons and inmates. ``

FORCE COMMANDER MULTINATIONAL JOINT TASK FORCE PAID OPERATIONAL VISIT TO G5 SAHEL.{PHOTOS}.

       The Force Commander (FC) Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF) Major General Lucky Irabor paid a two day visit to the Headquarters G5 Sahel, Sevare, Mali from 4th-5th December 2017. On arrival at the Mopti Ambodedjo International Airport, Sevare, the FC and entourage proceeded to the G5 Headquarters where he was received by the FC G5 Sahel, Major General Didier Dacko. In his remarks, General Irabor appreciated the warm reception accorded to him. He used the forum to inform the FC G5 Sahel of the purpose of his visit to the Force Headquarters, which according to him was to synergise, exchange notes, share information/intelligence and encourage one another towards achieving a common goal. He stated that the G5 Sahel was created on a good and solid foundation. He reiterated the need to remain focused, resolute, maintain closer relationship and share ideas in order to fight terrorism and related criminality in the region.       Just this afternoon at about 12:21 pm a lady who was reportedly to be a final year student of federal polytechnic Oko though her name is still unverified was knocked down by a heavy vehicle which left her brain/skull crushed and shattered on the road like mud. According to Anagor George a graduate of mass communication department federal polytechnic Oko who witnessed the incident stated that the lady was riding a Kymco ladies machine before she met her horrible end. And he confirmed that the young lady is dead. In other hand, another witness Emmanuela disclosed that the driver took to his heels immediately after the occurrence of the accident. POLICE ARREST MOTHER,OTHERS FOR KILLING A FEMALE TEACHER IN OGIDI ANAMBRA STATE.{PHOTOS}

        Controversy has trailed the death of a secondary school teacher in Anambra State, Miss Rita Odilinye of Starlight Secondary School, Ogidi in Idemili North local government area following reports that she was killed by the mother and a relation of her schoolgirl who she allegedly flogged for not carrying out her duty. Miss Odilinye was until her death, an Igbo language teacher and class mistress in the school. A source in the school said the teacher come to the school only to discover that her class was not swept and when she asked the students in the class why the class was not swept, she was informed that it was the turn of one Chinaza Okafor to sweep the class. The source said: “The students told her that Chinaza, who was supposed to sweep the class before going home the previous day after school dismissal as they used to do, did not sweep it. ” And when queried by the teacher, she proved stubborn in her response which angered the teacher and she flogged her. “

       No fewer than 200 transformers were vandalised by hoodlums between January and November in Anambra, an official of the Enugu Electricity Distribution Company (EEDC), has said. Mr Samuel Onuoha, the Network Manager, EEDC, Awka, disclosed while addressing a group of protesters who stormed the EEDC office in Awka on Monday. Onuoha, who noted the company had zero tolerance for vandalism of its installations, said 50 transformers were vandalised in Nnewi; 30 in Awka; over 100 in Onitsha and six in Ekwulobia districts within the period. “There are different levels of vandalism; some go for oil and different types of cables and some remove the feeder pillar units, among others. “The vandalism escalated in the Ember Months; we cannot continue to run business like that,” Onuoha stated, adding that six cases of vandalism were currently at different levels of prosecution in the state.
