  Indian billionaire Gautam Adani charged in US for alleged bribery, fraud Gautam Adani, the chair of Indian conglomerate Adani Group and one of the world’s richest people, whose business empire extends from ports and airports to renewable energy,has been indicted in New York over an alleged multibillion-dollar fraud scheme, United States prosecutors have said. The authorities on Wednesday charged Adani and two other executives at Adani Green Energy, his nephew Sagar Adani and Vneet Jaain, with agreeing between 2020 and 2024 to pay more than $250m in bribes to Indian government officials to obtain solar energy supply contracts expected to yield $2bn in profits. Prosecutors said the renewable energy company also raised more than $3bn in loans and bonds during this period based on false and misleading statements.                The Federal Road Safety Corps has concluded plans to formally unveil vehicles comprising operational vehicles,ambulances and a heavy duty tow truck,tomorrow monday the 16th of May 2016 at the Peace Park by International Conference Centre in the Federal Capital Territory,Abuja.According to the FRSC's Head of Media Relationa and Strategy,Bisi Kazeem,the formal commissioning which will have President Muhammadu Buhari as Special Guest of Honor,is designed in partial fulfilment of the Corps drive to achieve the 2016 corporate strategic goals which seeks to reduce road traffic crashes by 15% and fatalities by 25%.Speaking on the proposed formal launch of the patrol vehicles ,the FRSC Corps Marshal Boboye Oyeyemi stated that the occasion ''WWill symbolise the sustained intent of the Federal Government to raise the bar on the road safety management and collective dedication to the task of exploring innovative and resourceful ways of funding the road safety interventi

AMBODE ORDERS IMMEDIATE FIXING OF BAD PORTIONS ON OSHODI APAPA EXPRESSWAY,AFTER HIS RECENT SURPRISE INSPECTION.{PHOTOS}.

                Lagos State Governor,Mr Akinwunmi Ambode on friday expressed dissatisfaction at the deplorable state of some sections off Oshodi-Apapa Expressway,saying the road was too strategic to the economy of the State and therefore cannot be ignored.Governor Ambode,who made an unscheduled inspection tour of the road while returning from the grand opening of a 70,000 capacity Motorbikes Assembly plant in Mile 2,directed the State's Ministry of Works and Infrastructure and other relevant government agencies to immediately move to site and fix the bad portions of the road.A visibly worried Governor Ambode had stopped his convoy and came down from his vehicles to inspect the bad portions of the road alongside top government officials who accompanied him.The Governor specifically inspected the bad portions of the road between Berlett and Ilasa,and Cele Bus stop inward Oshodi.Governor Ambode not only directed the officials of the Ministry of Works to immediately move to site,but al

5 SOLDIERS INJURED,AFTER BOKO HARAM ATTACKED NIGERIAN SOLDIERS IN SAMBISA FOREST YESTERDAY.{PHOTOS}.

                                            Troops of 21 Brigade and rugged team of Armed Forces Special Forces {AFSF} on Operation CRACKDOWN inside Sambisa forest while on harbour for refitting,came under Boko Haram terrorists attack at about 1.45am today morning.However,the gallant troops successfully up with mopping up operations of the general area before advancing.They also recovered 2 corpses of the attackers and the following items; 2 AK-47 rifles, 2 Rocket Propelled Grenade {RPG} bombs, 5 rifle magazines,mortar bombs and a belt of Machine Gun rounds.Unfortunately 5 soldiers were wounded in action {WIA},as a result of mortar fired into the harbour area by the Boko Haram terrorists.The wounded soldiers have been evacuated to the rear for treatment.Despite this incident,the morale of the gallant troops remains very high as they are determined to successfully clear Boko Haram terrorists.-Colonel Sani Kukasheka Usman,Acting Director Army Public Relations.More photos below.          

THE HIKE OF FUEL TO N145,MADE NIGERIAN LABOUR UNIONS TO THREATEN A STRIKE ACTION THIS COMING WEDNESDAY

              Nigerian labour unions have threatened to start protests on wednesday if the federal government fails to cancel the hiked petrol prices by tuesday midnight.The Nigerian Labour Congress and the Trade unions Congress called for the strike to shut down Nigeria which will also cover airports,seaports and banks.The government of Nigeria announced a 67 percent increase in petrol prices last week.Many Nigerians rely on gasoline for electricity generation and transport' however the West African nation has an economic crisis due to the slump in oil prices.Nigerians have enjoyed oil subsidies as a benefit of living in Africa's top oil producer but due to neglect of refineries Nigeria imports most of its  gasoline.The union said ''Nigerians are therefore advised to stock sufficient food items that will last for the prosecution of the current struggle  against {a} neo-liberal agenda in Nigeria''.One more photo below.
