  Indian billionaire Gautam Adani charged in US for alleged bribery, fraud Gautam Adani, the chair of Indian conglomerate Adani Group and one of the world’s richest people, whose business empire extends from ports and airports to renewable energy,has been indicted in New York over an alleged multibillion-dollar fraud scheme, United States prosecutors have said. The authorities on Wednesday charged Adani and two other executives at Adani Green Energy, his nephew Sagar Adani and Vneet Jaain, with agreeing between 2020 and 2024 to pay more than $250m in bribes to Indian government officials to obtain solar energy supply contracts expected to yield $2bn in profits. Prosecutors said the renewable energy company also raised more than $3bn in loans and bonds during this period based on false and misleading statements.       Justice Mojisola Dada of the Special Offences Court sitting in Ikeja, Lagos has fixed January 14, 2020 for ruling on the bail application filed by an alleged fraudster, Jean Codo, in a case of stealing to the tune of €29million. Codo was arraigned alongside his company, Transport and Port Management Systems Limited, TPMS, by the EFCC, on a seven-count charge bordering on stealing to the tune of €29million on Friday, December 13, 2019.

      The Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar, has commended the Air Task Force (ATF) Operation LAFIYA DOLE for the successes recorded during the just concluded Operation RATTLE SNAKE. The Operation, which was launched on 10 December 2019 against terrorists’ elements in the Northeast of the Country, targeted selected locations within the Northeast in order to further degrade the remnants of the terrorists as well as deny them safe havens and freedom of action. The CAS was represented yesterday, 17 December 2019, at the dinner to mark the end of the Operation by the Director of Operations, Headquarters Nigerian Air Force (HQ NAF), Air Vice Marshal Idi Lubo. The CAS stated that the 7-day intensive operation had been necessary to build on the gains of previous air interdiction operations by the ATF.       In order to sustain the dislodgement of squatters and illegal structures on Outer Marina and Onikan, the State Government has deployed not less than 60 operatives of the three enforcement agencies of the State to various points along Onikan and Outer Marina. The latest move was made possible through the creation of a synergy between the operatives of Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Corps (KAI), Lagos Neighbourhood Watch as well as Lagos State Parks and Gardens to sustain aesthetics in all the cleared areas. Giving an update on the ongoing operations, the Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, Mr. Tunji Bello stated that the buy-in of the Office of the Assistant Inspector General of Police, Zone 2 at Onikan had been secured to sustain the effects of the enforcement exercise. FRSC DEPLOYS 39,450 PERSONNEL TO THE HIGHWAYS FOR 2019 EMBER MONTHS CAMPAIGN.#PRESS RELEASE.

    According to sources ''The late lawmaker reportedly slumped and was taken to a private hospital in Abuja where he was confirmed dead. The death of the senator is the second to be recorded in the ninth assembly since its inauguration in June. Jafaru Iliyasu Auna, a house of representatives member, died earlier in the month.       The Ilorin Zonal Office of the EFCC has recovered additional N70, 000,000 (Seventy Million Naira) for Kwara State Government in its ongoing efforts to recover the looted funds allegedly stolen by corrupt individuals. It would be recalled that the Commission had on the 11th of October, 2019, handed over the sum of N112, 000,000 (One Hundred and Twelve Million Naira) being recoveries from corrupt individuals, to the Kw ara State Governor, Mallam Abdulrahman Abdulrasaq in Ilorin.
