  Indian billionaire Gautam Adani charged in US for alleged bribery, fraud Gautam Adani, the chair of Indian conglomerate Adani Group and one of the world’s richest people, whose business empire extends from ports and airports to renewable energy,has been indicted in New York over an alleged multibillion-dollar fraud scheme, United States prosecutors have said. The authorities on Wednesday charged Adani and two other executives at Adani Green Energy, his nephew Sagar Adani and Vneet Jaain, with agreeing between 2020 and 2024 to pay more than $250m in bribes to Indian government officials to obtain solar energy supply contracts expected to yield $2bn in profits. Prosecutors said the renewable energy company also raised more than $3bn in loans and bonds during this period based on false and misleading statements. Kano Explosion: Ganduje Shares Millions Of Naira To Bereaved Families The Governor of Kano State, Abdullahi Ganduje, on Monday donated about sixteen million naira to the bereaved families of the people killed in last Tuesday’s explosion in the Sabon Gari area of the town. The police said the explosion was caused when chemicals from from an alleged illegal dealer of toxic chemicals came in contact with heat. The owner of the stop, Michael Adejo, was also killed in the blast. Several others were injured and properties, including a building that housed the shop, were destroyed. He said the donation was a gesture aimed to give some succour to the families of the bereaved. The governor said he sympathised with the bereaved families. He said each of the families of the nine persons who loss their lives were given N1 million (one million naira) and the owner of African centre whose building was destroyed was given two million naira, while the owner of a nearby Winners Primary School was given

Policeman Shot Dead, 2 Wounded As PDP Primaries Turn Bloody In Cross River One policeman has been confirmed dead while two others were seriously injured on Monday, May 23 in Obudu, Cross River State during the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) House of Representatives primaries for Obudu/Bekwerra/Obanliku Federal Constituency. Heavily armed thugs invaded Handmaid Nursery and Primary School, the venue for the primaries and opened fire on the policemen and delegates, destroying and burning cars and other properties. One of the policemen, identified as Martins Mbang, died on the spot while the second policeman who was seriously inured was rushed to an undisclosed hospital. One more photo below.

Naija News gathered that a mob was seen smashing and tearing down billboards in several parts of the town. Senator Ademola Adeleke is the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) gubernatorial candidate for the Osun 2022 election. The cause of the violent action was unknown at the time of filing this report, however, it is believed to be related to the just concluded Osun PDP primaries for the Osun State House of Assembly and House of Representatives elections. Okechukwu Okoye reported to the Police in Ekwulobia, Aguata LGA that he had reason to believe that a headless corpse allegedly lying along Nnobi - Ideani Road was that of the lawmaker who was abducted alongside his aide, Cyril Chiegboka on 15th May, 2022 at Oraefi in Aguata LGA of Anambra State. Police Operatives accompanied him to the scene and found the claim to be true. The headless body was recovered for preservation and autopsy. EFCC Arrests 22 Suspected Internet Fraudsters in Asaba Operatives of the EFCC, Benin Zonal Command on Sunday May 22, 2022 arrested 22 suspected internet fraudsters. The suspects: Promise Bassey, Raymond Diamond, Ifeanyi Anyasi, Celestine Osalenlen, Johnbull Kingsley, Ikekhua Mately, Clifford Johnson, Akorah Chinedu, Kester Ogochukwu Idugba Junior and Lucky Egwuatu. Others are Victor Nwabunwanna, Happiness Ayo, Rawlings Nwabunwanna, Eleka Ikeja, Oliseh Emeka, Ozuwa Destiny, Prince Erik Nnamdi, Emmanuel Ochuku Igben, Tochukwu Onyido, Gift Onuajefe and Odosun Matthew, were arrested at their hideout in Asaba, Delta State following actionable intelligence.  Items recovered from them include two Mercedes Benz GLK 350 4Matic and mobile phones. PRESS RELEASE IGP MOURNS DEMISE OF EMINENT COMMUNICATOR, DON AWUNAH The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Usman Alkali Baba, psc(+), NPM, fdc, on behalf of the Force Management team, and Officers of the Nigeria Police Force, regrets to announce the demise of an eminent communicator, ardent officer, and Member of the National Institute, AIG Donald Ngorngor Awunah, psc(+), fnipr, fsi, mni, which occurred in the early hours of today, Monday 23rd May, 2022, at Garki Hospital Abuja, after a brief illness.  AIG Awunah, who hailed from Benue State, was a one-time Spokesperson for the Force, and was until his death the Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of Zone 16 Yenagoa, Bayelsa State.
