  Indian billionaire Gautam Adani charged in US for alleged bribery, fraud Gautam Adani, the chair of Indian conglomerate Adani Group and one of the world’s richest people, whose business empire extends from ports and airports to renewable energy,has been indicted in New York over an alleged multibillion-dollar fraud scheme, United States prosecutors have said. The authorities on Wednesday charged Adani and two other executives at Adani Green Energy, his nephew Sagar Adani and Vneet Jaain, with agreeing between 2020 and 2024 to pay more than $250m in bribes to Indian government officials to obtain solar energy supply contracts expected to yield $2bn in profits. Prosecutors said the renewable energy company also raised more than $3bn in loans and bonds during this period based on false and misleading statements. UNKNOWN GUN-MEN SHOT DEAD THE MANAGER OF SWISS PARK HOTEL IN ANAMBRA STATE ON WEDNESDAY.{PHOTOS}.

      According to reports, the deceased identified as Chukwunonso Igbokwe from Okpunoeze in Uruagu Nnewi, was shot dead while on duty after the armed hoodlums stormed the area on Wednesday, December 11 . Reports have it that Nonso was decorating the hotel with Christmas lights when the hoodlums stormed the hotel premises and shot him dead. The body of the deceased has been deposited at the morgue of the Nnamdi Azikiwe University Teaching Hospital, Nnewi.More photos below.

EFCC RAIDS HOMES OF ALLEGED INTERNET FRAUDSTERS IN ENUGU STATE TODAY.{PHOTOS}.#PRESS RELEASE.

     The South-East Zonal office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has raided the homes of two alleged internet fraudsters: Okechukwu Donald Akachukwu and a couple, Onuora Edgar and his wife, Onuora Adaora Lynda, at Independence Layout, Enugu. The raid was consequent upon the resolve by the Acting Chairman of the Commission, Ibrahim Magu to intensify the Commission’s fight against internet and cyber frau dsters across the country. Intelligence report gathered by the Commission regarding some people living in opulence lifestyle without any known means of livelihood revealed that the suspects have been defrauding many unsuspecting victims of huge sums of money through their nefarious operations and used such to acquire choice properties across the zone.            The Acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Ibrahim Magu, on Thursday, December 13, 2018, told Justice Doris T. Okuwobi of the State High Court, Ikeja, Lagos that he had never been investigated by the Department of State Security, DSS. Magu stated this while giving evidence in a N100m suit he filed against the publisher of The Sun newspaper and four others over an alleged defamation. Joined in the suit are the Editor, Saturday Sun; Fred Itua, James Ojo and Lawrence Enyoghasu. Magu is seeking compensation for libelous imputations and statements made against him in a story published in the March 25, 2017 edition of The Saturday Sun entitled: “Magu Under Fresh Probe Over 2 Abuja Mansions”. At today’s proceedings, Magu, who gave evidence in-chief, told the court that the statement of oath written by him through his lawyer, Wahab Shittu, represented his evidence in the proceedings. COURT JAILS 3 OVER N12.5 MILLION FRAUD YESTERDAY IN EDO STATE.{PHOTOS}.#PRESS RELEASE.

        The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, yesterday, December 13, 2018 secured three convictions at the Federal High Court sitting in Benin City, Edo State. One of those convicted is Oluwalusi Kikelomo . She was arraigned before Justice M. G. Umar on a one count charge of stealing and obtaining by false pretence. Upon her arraignment, Mrs. Oluwalusi pleaded guilty to the charge. And based on a plea bargain arrangement betwee n the prosecution counsel and the defence counsel she was convicted and sentenced to six months imprisonment. All assets recovered from her as proceeds of crime are to be forfeited to the victim. The charge against her reads: “That you, Oluwalusi Kikelomo, while being a branch Manager in O- FAGE Enterprise Nigeria Ltd, between February 2017 and October 2018 in Ado Ekiti, Ekiti State within the jurisdiction of this honourable court, did fraudulently convert to your own use the aggregate sum of N12, 268, 200 (Twelve Million, Two Hundred and S

         In continuation with offensive operations aimed at decimating armed bandits operating   within Zamfara and Sokoto States, Troops of Sector 2 Operation SHARAN DAJI/Operation 777 under 8 Division Nigerian Army in conjunction with some members of Civilian Joint Task Force embarked on clearance operations in Dumburum Forests on 13 December 2018. At the end of the Operation, 6 bandits were neutralised while 2 AK 47 Rifles, 2 magazines containing 48 rounds of ammunition and 2 motorcycles were recovered.More photos below.
