 STATE HOUSE PRESS RELEASE  PRESIDENT TINUBU APPOINTS CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICERS OF TWO AGENCIES  President Bola Tinubu has approved the appointment of Dr. Innocent Bariate Barikor as the Director-General of the National Environmental Standards and Regulation Enforcement Agency (NESREA). The President has also approved the appointment of Prince Ebitimi Amgbare as the Managing Director/CEO of the Niger Delta River Basin Development Authority (NDRBDA). Dr. Barikor is an academic and politician. He was a member of the Rivers State House of Assembly from 2011 to 2015, while Prince Amgbare is a retired naval officer and former commissioner in Bayelsa State. The President expects that the new heads of these important agencies will discharge their duties with utmost fidelity to the nation and unfailing adherence to the highest standards of professionalism, accountability, and excellent service to the people of Nigeria.       The trial of John Emenike Umesi, a former acting Director, Special Duties, National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA, who is being prosecuted by the EFCC on a four-count charge, will continue tomorrow, Thursday, May 14, 2020, before Justice Jude Okeke of Federal Capital Territory, FCT High Court, Maitama, Abuja. Umesi, being the South-South Zonal Coordinator allegedly misappropriated and diverted N54.5 million being funds meant for programmes, and maintenance of the zone.

     As part of its sustained efforts geared towards eliminating the remnants of Boko Haram Terrorists (BHTs) and other terrorists’ groups in the North East of the Country, the Air Task Force (ATF) of Operation LAFIYA DOLE (OPLD) has attacked over 33 different BHT targets and flown close to 1,700 hours in the last 4 months. This was achieved in 889 Air Interdiction (AI); Intelligence Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR); Battle Damage Assessment (BDA); Close Air Support as well as Tactical Airlift missions executed in 1,075 sorties with about 1.6 Million litres of Jet A-1 fuel expended from 1 January 2020 till date.       Today, Gov. Seyi Makinde inaugurated the project monitoring committee for Rural Access and Agricultural Marketing Project (RAAMP) in Oyo State. The Rural Access and Agricultural Marketing Project (RAAMP) is a Federal Government sponsored project under the World Bank and other donor agencies with payment of 12 percent counterpart fund of project worth by interested state to cater for the construction and rehabilitation of up to 1,000 kilometres rural and farm roads and also,  assist in expanding the state economy with a seven years project life cycle. The rural based project is envisioned to facilitate rapid rural development and agro logistics infrastructure which would result in social and economic development. N4MILLION SSCAM: EFCC DOCKS OYO PERMANENT SECRETARY.{PHOTO}.#PRESS RELEASE.

      The Ibadan zonal office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has arraigned a Permanent Secretary in the Oyo State Ministry of Agriculture, Alhaji Rasaq Kolawole, for allegedly defrauding one Ibikunle Alonge of N4,400.000 (Four Million, Four Hundred Thousand Naira). . . Kolawole was arraigned before Justice Aderonke Aderemi of the Oyo State High Court on Wednesday, May 13, 2020, on one-count charge of obtaining money under false pretence. . . The offence is against Section 1 (2) of the Advance Fee Fraud and Other Fraud Related Offences Act, 2006 and punishable under Section 1 (3) of the same Act. . . The victim of his alleged crime had written a petition to the EFCC in which he accused the top public servant of fraudulently collecting the sum from him as part payment for a piece of land situated at Alabata Olosoko area of Moniya, Ibadan.

Justice Peter Lifu of the Federal High Court 2, Osogbo, Osun State, found Adeleke guilty of a one-count amended charge of impersonation.

     COVID-19 Update by the Incident Commander, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu Good people of Lagos, Today, 26 COVID19Lagos patients; 13 males and 13 females, all Nigerians were discharged from our Yaba, Onikan and Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH) Isolation facilities to reunite with the society. The patients, 6 from the Mainland Infectious Disease Hospital, Yaba, 11 from Onikan and 9 from LUTH Isolation Centres were discharged having fully recovered and tested negative to COVID-19 in two consecutive readings.      The Federal Government last year, struck a deal with the Nigeria Labour Congress for the implementation of a minimum wage of N30, 000 upward from the present N18, 000. The Federal Government and Labour earlier had a running battle with the Nigeria Governors Forum in arriving at the agreement for states and Local Government Areas to equally implement the minimum wage. Indeed, as reported in the media, both the Federal and some state Governments have implemented the said wage for their staff.However, the implementation of the new minimum wage came along with it some expected hiccups.
