Update: Anambra family rejects autopsy report claiming their daughter died of drowning, insists she was k!lled The family of Chinyere Awuda, the young lady who was found dead near an abandoned swimming pool at a hotel in Anambra State, on July 17, have rejected the autopsy report by the Anambra state police command that claims she died of drowning. Recall that on Friday, July 28, the state police command, DSP Ikenga Tochukwu, in a statement released, said the autopsy carried out on Ms. Awuda shows she died of drowning which is contrary to claims that she was beaten to death by some fun seekers at the hotel. Bandits Kill JIBWIS Leader, Farmers, Kidnap 50 In Kaduna July 29, 2023 The Birnin-Gwari Emirate Progressives Union (BEPU) has disclosed the death of the Vice-Chairman of Jama’atul Izalatul Bid’ah Wa Iqamatus-Sunnah (JIBWIS), Birnin-Gwari Branch, Mal. Yakubu Muhammad Bugai and three other farmers who were killed by rampaging bandits who have been unleashing terror in the area with over 50 persons kidnapped in July alone.   Resident Doctors Reject FG’s 25% Pay Raise Proposal July 29, 2023 The National Association of Resident Doctors (NARD) rejected a government proposal on Saturday to increase doctors’ basic salaries by 25%, stating that it doesn’t meet their original demand. The doctors insist on the complete restoration of the Consolidated Medical Salary Structure to its 2009 value, as per their demand made to the federal government on July 5, 2023. The doctors’ refusal, outlined in a communique signed by President Dr Orji Emeka Innocent, Secretary-General Dr Chikezie Kelechi, and Publicity & Social Secretary Dr Uma Musa, effectively extends the ongoing nationwide strike. Colombia’s president's son arrested on money laundering charges 29th Jul 2023  Colombian President Gustavo Petro said Saturday that his son Nicolas has been arrested on charges of money laundering and illicit enrichment in a scandal linked to Petro’s election campaign. Colombia’s first leftist president wrote on Twitter, which is being rebranded as X, that police arrested his son and the son’s ex-wife Daysuris Vasquez. In March, Vasquez alleged that Nicolas Petro received large amounts of money from drug traffickers and smugglers in 2022 for his father’s ultimately successful presidential campaign but instead used it to live in luxury in the northern city of Barranquilla.
