Umar Hassan, an Assistant Headmaster at Goron Dutse Primary School, in Dala Local Government Area of Kano State and a surety in the case of one Abdulkadir Mohammed Sani was today, August 20, 2021 sentenced to six months imprisonment by Justice Zuwaira Yusuf of the Kano State High Court for presenting false information to mislead operatives of the Kano Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, into granting bail to a suspect in a criminal case being investigated by the agency. The Court had on August 12, 2021 convicted the defendant after he pleaded guilty to a one count charge of false information but reserved sentencing till August 20, 2021. 13 Year Old Student Beaten To Death By Teacher Over Failure To Do Assignment |  A student of Federal Govt College Kwali, Yahaya Nuhu Aliyu was allegedly beaten to death on Monday 9th August 2021 by his form teacher Mrs Dorcas Gibson.  The deceased had earlier complained of not feeling well and went to the school clinic but was turned back because he hasn’t eaten, then went back to class and his teacher (Mrs Gibson) demanded his assignments which he didn’t complete then she decided to punish him by flogging him mercilessly and when her cane broke, she picked up a bucket handle and continued beating him with the bucket handle on his head.  When the beating stopped, the brutalized student laid his head on his table after his teacher left and never got up ever again. The Kaduna Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC today, August 20, 2021 arraigned five suspects before Justice Hannatu A.L Balogun of the Kaduna State High Court, Kaduna on separate one count charges for offences ranging from impersonation to obtaining by false pretences. The Timetable and Schedule of Activities approved by the Commission on 18th January 2021 provides for the withdrawal/substitution of candidates in line with Sec. 35 of the Electoral Act 2010 (as amended). Accordingly, by the deadline of 30th July 2021 fixed by the Commission, seven (7) Governorship and eleven (11) Deputy Governorship candidates were substituted by eleven (11) out of the eighteen (18) political parties. Reno Omokri Writes - I urge every Governor in Southern Nigeria to resist today’s order by General Buhari for a review of 368 Grazing Reserves in 25 states. Buhari has no power to do that under Nigeria’s law and his killer herdsmen kinsmen have not yet succeeded in making Nigeria a Taliban state.  Any Southern Governor foolish enough to accept Grazing Reserves should look at Southern Kaduna. Look also at Edo, where they are sacrilegiously trying to install a Sultan.  There is enough land at Sambisa Forest. If herdsmen want to graze, then Buhari should give them land there.  And Southern Governors should start arming their state police in exactly the same way Kano has armed Hisbah. Okigwe stadium road is one of the many dilapidated roads mapped out for Reconstruction months ago by Governor Hope Uzodimma. Prior to now, there has been several public outcry as regarding the sorry state of that road giving it's location and people who ply on it sports lovers and motorists alike. Today the okigwe stadium road that was once in a sorry state is at the final stage of reconstruction. Governor Nyesom Ezenwo Wike has signed into law bills on Value Added Tax (VAT) collection, Open Grazing Prohibition in Rivers State. He has maintained that the judgement of the Federal High Court sitting in Port Harcourt had sufficiently addressed the illegality perpetrated by the Federal Inland Revenue Services (FIRS) on behalf of the Federal Government in the collection of VAT in States. The governor stated this at the Government House, Port Harcourt, shortly after signing into law on Thursday, the Valued Added Tax Law No. 4 of 2021; The Open Rearing and Grazing Prohibition Law No 5 of 2021; The Child's Rights Amendment Law No 2 of 2021; The Residents Registration Agency Law No 6 of 2021 and the Naming and Renaming of Infrastructure Law No3 of 2021.
