Why 100,000 companies may lose CAC registration — Registrar Registrar of the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC), Alhaji Garba Abubakar, has said that the agency has listed 100,000 companies to be delisted from the Commission’s register for not publishing returns to the government. He made this known on Thursday in Kano while addressing members of the Civil Society, the Media and other Security Agencies on the use of Beneficial Ownership Register initiatives According to him, “The law is clear on the procedures, insisting that any company not filing its returns is considered not in operation or inactive and is liable to be struck out”. UK-based Nigerian Doctor Loses Custody Of Son After Flogging Him With Belt A Nigerian doctor based in the United Kingdom has lost custody of his 16-year-old son to the government after flogging him with a belt. This was revealed by a child rights advocate known as pepstalk1 on her Instagram page on Wednesday. She narrated that the Nigerian doctor flogged his son after he caught him and his friends invited over to study together watching an inappropriate video. His friends reportedly informed the police and told them that while the father was beating his son with a belt, the doctor repeatedly said, "Is this how you want to become a doctor?"  Former Aviation Minister Sirika Land in DSS Custody Over Nigeria Air Launch Former aviation minister Hadi Sirika has reportedly landed in the custody of the Department of State Services (DSS) over the recent “launch” of Nigeria Air. The questioning comes after the acting managing director of Nigeria Air, Captain Dapo Olumide, revealed that the plane that was unveiled as Nigeria Air was a chartered aircraft from Ethiopian Airlines. Olumide told the Senate Committee on Aviation that the aircraft was used to unveil the Nigeria Air logo but that it was not yet operational. The “launch” of Nigeria Air was widely criticised as a scam.

FG urges Nigerians to consider bicycles for transportation The Federal Ministry of Transportation has encouraged Nigerians to consider bicycles as alternative means of commuting. Vanguard reports that the Director, Road Transport and Mass Transit Administration, Musa Ibrahim, stated this at a one-day stakeholders sensitization meeting held in Abuja. According to the report, Ibrahim said the idea is to enhance and heighten the importance of cycling in Nigeria as it will obviously lead to a drop in road crash incidences. Seven Women Who Made Tinubu's Ministerial List And Their States Of Origin Of the ministerial list President Bola Ahmed Tinubu forwarded to the Senate, only Seven women made it. The list consists of 28 prominent Nigerians, including former governors and serving and former members of the Senate and House of Representatives. This means twenty-five percent of the nominees are women, while 75 percent are men. The women are: Betta Edu (Cross River) Doris Aniche Uzoka (Imo) Hannatu Musawa (Katsina) Nkiru Onyeojiocha (Abia) Stella Okotete (Delta) Uju Kennedy Ohaneye (Anambra) Iman Suleiman Ibrahim (Nasarawa) However, 11 states were left out of the ministerial list sent to the Senate. The omitted states include Adamawa, Bayelsa, Gombe, Kano, Kebbi, Kogi, Plateau, Lagos, Osun, Yobe, and Zamfara. According to the Senate President, a supplementary ministerial list will be sent to the parliament in due time.

Tinubu to send second batch of ministerial nominees to senate soon – Gbajabiamila Femi Gbajabiamila, the Chief of Staff to President Bola Tinubu, has admitted that the current administration may create new ministries from the existing ones. The former Speaker of the House of Representatives disclosed this while addressing State House correspondents on Thursday in Abuja. Gbajabiamila submitted the ministerial list to the National Assembly on Thursday, and it was read by current Senate President Godswill Akpabio. “Mr President intends to separate portfolios or restructure the ministries in such a way that you might be hearing of new ministries that were not standalone ministries before. So the process continues,” Gbajabiamila said.

Ministerial list: Tinubu rewarded vultures for playing Judas – Shehu Sani Shehu Sani, a former Senator from Kaduna State, has alleged that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu rewarded ‘some vultures’ for playing Judas in the last general elections. Shehu Sani disclosed this on Thursday on his official Twitter handle while reacting to Tinubu’s Ministerial list. DSS re-arresting Emefiele not illegal, says Bauchi legal practitioner A Bauchi Based lawyer, Barrister Alkassim Mohammed, has said that the re-arrest of suspended Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Mr Godwin Emefiele by the Department of State Services (DSS) at the premises of the Federal High Court, Lagos, was legal. The DSS arraigned Emefele on a two-count on a two-count charge of terrorism and illegal possession of firearms. An earlier attempt by officials of the Nigerian Correctional Services Centre (NCoS) into custody as ordered by the court led to a clash between officials of the DSS and the NCoS.
